  • Patent number: 9099288
Abstract: Systems and methods are used to store an electronic record of all product ion spectra of all detectable compounds of a sample. A plurality of product ion scans are performed on a tandem mass spectrometer one or more times in a single sample analysis across a mass range using a plurality of mass selection windows. All sample product ion spectra of all detectable compounds for each mass selection window are produced. All sample product ion spectra for each mass selection window are received from the tandem mass spectrometer using a processor. All sample product ion spectra for each mass selection window are stored as an electronic record of all detectable compounds of the sample using the processor. The electronic record is used to characterize compounds known at the time the electronic record is stored or to characterize compounds that became known after the electronic record was stored.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a capillary fluidic device comprising at least two inlets, a microfluidic channel and an outlet. The device allows for the autonomous and programmable sequential flow of the same or different fluids using capillary fluidics for autonomous pumping of liquids to other downstream fluidic structures. External pumping and valving systems are not required, thus reducing complexity and increasing portability of stand-alone microfluidic systems. Aspects of the present disclosure can be applied to other fluidic structures for performing analytical biological assays. The integration has at least one reaction chamber and at least one capillary pump. The device is integrated with at least one sensor for detection and quantification of the biological assay signals.

  • Publication number: 20150133414
Abstract: It was determined whether SNPs in SLC4A5 are associated with salt sensitivity of blood pressure (BP). Subjects consumed an isocaloric constant diet with a randomized order of 7 days low Na+ (10 mmol/d) and 7 days high Na+ (300 mmol/d) intake. Salt sensitivity was defined as a ?7 mm Hg increase in mean arterial pressure (MAP). 35 polymorphisms in 17 candidate genes were assayed. Association analyses with salt sensitivity revealed three variants that associated with salt sensitivity, two in SLC4A5 (rs7571842, rs10177833; P<0.001), and one in GRK4 (rs1801058; P=0.020). Paradoxical changes in blood pressure in response to changes in salt intake were also found associated with a SNP for DRD2 (rs6276). In conclusion, SLC4A5 variants are strongly associated with salt sensitivity of BP in Caucasian and a DRD2 SNP is a marker for paradoxical response to salt intake.

  • Patent number: 8975564
Abstract: This invention advances the related state-of-the-art by eliminating the physical EO window used by electro-optical imaging infrared seekers for tactical missiles and high-altitude endo-atmospheric interceptors, widely employed in integrated defense systems. This invention increases the probability of intercepting exo-atmospheric ballistic warheads by exo-atmospheric interceptors, and eliminates the existing altitude “gap” of interception, as well as the geographical limitations posed by the mesospheric Noctilucent Clouds. The problem of protecting an imaging EO sensor from aeroheating is solved in this invention by a special purpose device which is enabled immediately after the nose cone ejection event.

  • Publication number: 20140200836
Abstract: A method 100 of determining a flow rate of a fluid flowing in a pipe. The method 100 includes measuring a pressure of fluid at at least two locations in the pipe 101, the pressure being measured by sensors that are positioned on or in the pipe. A wave speed of fluid is determined 102 based on measured pressure of fluid at a location in the pipe. The flow rate of fluid is determined 106 based on the determined wave speed and based on the measured pressures at two locations in the pipe. • Publication number: 20140042296
Abstract: Heliostat comprising a drive shaft pointing at the target, two reflection or refraction solar sensors, and a closed-loop control system, independent of the solution provided by the main reflective optics. The first solar sensor (14) detects the position of the incident main beam (22) with respect to the main plane of the optics (21), while the second solar sensor (15) detects the position of the reflected main beam (23) with respect to the drive plane (10). The closed-loop control system is retroactively supplied by the signals from these two sensors that compare said signals at all times, and coordinates the primary drive (4) and the secondary drive (6) in order to achieve the condition of pointing at the target at all times.

  • Publication number: 20130091416
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for automatically establishing the relationship between the semantic data of an information source with running widgets using said data as input parameters. On one hand, the method comprises establishing the configuration by means of selecting the parts of the information source which will be used as input parameters of the widgets, identifying which widgets will be initialised with said parameters, choosing the mode of sharing that information; and on the other hand, using the configuration information for running the widget with the aforementioned parameters. Various applications are therefore integrated automatically, widgets being run based on the web page content and without user intervention, which allows integrating applications at runtime.
