A channel state information is generated having information about the combining and the single cell feedback matrices. The channel state information is transmitted to the plurality of base stations.

    Abstract: A system and method for reusing existing directional information to configure antennas in a wireless network is disclosed. The method includes retrieving existing directional information, the existing directional information having been established in a previous antenna training session with a receiver. The method further includes performing a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimation procedure comprising: transmitting an SNR estimation probe message to the receiver via a directional antenna tuned with the existing directional information, and determining whether an estimated SNR value associated with the SNR estimation probe message is equal to or greater than a threshold SNR value. The method further includes transmitting a data message to the receiver via the directional antenna tuned with the existing directional information if it is determined that the estimated SNR value is equal to or greater than the threshold SNR value.

A method for communications device operations includes estimating a channel between a controller and a mobile device, generating channel state information from the channel estimate, quantizing the channel state information by selecting a codeword from a rank n codebook based on a codeword selection mechanism, where n is a non-negative integer value, transmitting an index corresponding to the selected codeword and receiving a transmission from the controller. The transmission is precoded based on the index. The rank n codebook includes 2K codewords with each codeword comprising n columns of a transformed base matrix of dimension Nt×Nt, where K is a positive integer number representing a number of bits in the rank n codebook, and Nt is a number of transmit antennas at the controller.

A window search is configurable and scalable as to a number of scrambling codes to be searched in parallel over a window span for each scrambling code. A received signal is descrambled. A coherent accumulation is performed on the descrambled received signal at a first subchip resolution to produce a coherent accumulation result. The coherent accumulation result is interpolated to a second subchip resolution. A non-coherent accumulation is performed on the descrambled received signal at the second subchip resolution based at least in part on the interpolated coherent accumulation result.

Video information bits are placed into multiple data packets, and transmitted in a burst sequence from a sender to a receiver over a wireless channel in a first time frame. Transmission of each data packet is separated from transmission of the next data packet by an inter-frame time period which is shortened by a channel switching duration. Then, selected video information bits are retransmitted to from the sender to the receiver in a second time frame.

Sector training sequences to a plurality of other devices are transmitted via a transmit directional antenna having a set of transmit sectors. A plurality of feedback messages are received from the plurality of other devices, where the plurality of feedback messages are indicative of optimum transmit sectors that have been determined at the other devices based at least in part on the sector training sequences. Beam training sequences are transmitted to the plurality of other devices via the transmit directional antenna. A plurality of feedback message indicative of optimum transmit beam directions within the optimum transmit sectors are received from the plurality of other devices.
