    Abstract: A system and method for multi-stage antenna training of beamforming vectors is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises a method of acquiring a beamforming pattern in a wireless communication system, the method comprising receiving a first plurality of signals having different transceiver sector patterns, measuring first indicators of link quality corresponding to the first plurality of signals, selecting at least one transceiver sector pattern based on the first indicators of link quality, receiving a second plurality of signals having different transceiver beam patterns, each transceiver beam pattern associated with the selected at least one transceiver sector pattern, measuring second indicators of link quality corresponding to the second plurality of signals, and selecting at least one transceiver beam pattern based on the second measures of link quality.

    Abstract: A method and system for processing high definition video data using remainder bytes is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving an information packet having the length of L bytes, wherein L=(M×n×K)+A, and where: M is the depth of an interleaver, n is the number of interleavers, K is an encoding code length and A is the number of remainder bytes with respect to M×n×K bytes, wherein the remainder bytes are located at the end of the information packet, and wherein M×n×K bytes represent M×n codewords. The method further includes converting the A remainder bytes into a plurality of shortened codewords, wherein each of the shortened codewords is shorter in length than each of the M×n codewords. At least one embodiment of the invention provides much lower padding efficiency while improving the decoding performance.

    Abstract: A system and a method of using fast Fourier transform (FFT) based tone interleaver for OFDM are disclosed. One embodiment of the system includes an OFDM transmitter, which includes an inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) subsystem. The IFFT subsystem includes a bit-reversal (or quarternary-digit reversal depending on implementation) module followed by a butterfly operator. The bit-reversal (or quarternary-digit reversal) module output is connected to the butterfly operator input. The OFDM transmitter further includes a tone interleaver having an input and an output. The symbol interleaver output is connected to the bit reversal (or quarternary-digit reversal) module input. The tone interleaver is configured to rearrange the input symbol sequence such that the symbol sequence input to the tone interleaver input is the same as the symbol sequence input to the butterfly operator input.

    Abstract: A system and method for reporting quantized feedback information for adaptive codebooks include generating channel state information, encoding all or part of the channel state information to produce a feedback payload and transmitting the feedback payload to a base station from a mobile station. The channel state information comprises a rank indicator, a first matrix indicator, a wideband channel quality indicator, a second matrix indicator and at least one narrowband channel quality indicator. When the rank indicator is greater than 1, the first matrix indicator is reported in a second report. On the other hand, when the rank indicator is equal to 1, the content of the first matrix indicator is split between a second report and a third report.

Multiple packets are transmitted from the sender to the receiver over a wireless channel. In certain embodiments, the set of short training sequences includes seven short training sequences and the set of long training sequences includes two long training sequences, and the total length of the preamble is five orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols long.
