  • Patent number: 8010115
Abstract: The present invention relates to a node and a method thereof for a mobile telecommunication network connectable to a controlling node and wirelessly connectable to mobile terminals. The node is adapted to have an uplink connection to a mobile terminal, wherein the mobile terminal is adapted to have a second uplink connection to at least a second node such that data transmitted from the mobile terminal may be received at the node and at the at least the second node. The node comprises means for estimating whether data transmitted from the mobile terminal received at the at least the second node is received stronger than the data received at said node and means for discarding data received from the mobile terminal if it is estimated that the data is received stronger at the at least the second node than the data received at said node.

  • Publication number: 20110013567
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and to a transceiver (100) of a telecommunications system capable in exchanging protocol data units (PDUs) with another transceiver(s). Each PDU being identified using a sequence number. The transceiver, according to the present invention, is arranged to receive from the other transceiver a status report indicating positively acknowledged PDUs and negatively acknowledged PDUs. The transceiver (100) is further configured to compare sequence numbers in the report with previously acquired sequence numbers from previous reports and to prevent retransmissions of one or several PDUs based on the comparison.

  • Publication number: 20100309892
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a mechanism for improving coverage in a wireless communications system. The object is achieved by a method in a sending node (210) for transmitting a data unit to a receiving node (220). The data unit comprises a number of bits. The sending node (210) and the receiving node (220) are both comprised in a wireless communications system (200). According to the method, the sending node (210) obtains (606, 810) a value n associated with the data unit. Then, the sending node (210) selects (608, 814) a transmission time instance depending on n, such that a function exists that uniquely associates the selected transmission time instance with n. Finally, the sending node (210) transmits (612, 818) the data unit to the receiving node (220) in the selected transmission time instance, without the value n.

  • Publication number: 20100008307
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and arrangement in a wireless communication system for efficient reporting of scheduling information processed in a unit of said system. The method comprises the steps of adaptively selecting a buffer status report format that is most efficient for the momentary buffer content for indicating the buffer fill levels of the scheduler, and encoding said buffer fill levels such as to minimize the number of bits needed to encode the information.

  • Publication number: 20090119564
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for processing error control messages, such as RLC ARQ control messages, are disclosed. An exemplary method comprises signaling a medium access controller (MAC) that link resources are needed for transmitting data, receiving an indication from the MAC that link resources for transmitting the data are scheduled, and generating an error control message after receiving said indication, based on a current error control status. The error control message is then forwarded to the MAC for transmission. Because the generation of an error control message is delayed until resources for its transmission are scheduled, the queuing of stale control messages is avoided.

  • Publication number: 20080253334
Abstract: The present invention relates to a UE, base station network node and methods thereof in a cellular mobile communication system. One method concerns handover from a first radio base station to a second radio base station wherein, it comprises the steps receiving a notification from the first radio base station that currently serves said UE, said notification indicating the last packet to be transmitted to this user equipment from said first radio base station on a first connection; and informing the second radio base station by a request to commence transmission from this second radio base station when the notified last packet is received at the UE.

  • Publication number: 20080080424
Abstract: A user equipment unit (30) and a base station node (28) which is configured for operation with a synchronous HARQ protocol and with capability of sending data on an E-DCH channel either (1) in a nominal mode in single transmission time intervals of a predetermined length, or (2) in an extended mode in a pseudo transmission time interval. The pseudo transmission time interval comprises a first transmission time interval in which the data is transmitted and a second transmission time interval in which the data is re-transmitted. The second transmission time interval is consecutive to the first transmission time interval, and the first transmission time interval and the second transmission time interval are each of the (same) predetermined length.

  • Patent number: 7187677
Abstract: The present invention provides a stall avoidance mechanism that may be used alone or in conjunction with an ambiguity avoidance mechanism in an ARQ protocol. Both mechanisms decrease data delays and increase data throughput rates. Stall avoidance is accomplished by determining whether a stall condition exists with respect to receiving a missing data unit. In one example, only a single timer is needed to avoid stalls. Retransmission ambiguities may be avoided using a retransmission window in the transmitter and/or a receive window in the receiver. Although each mechanism may be used independently of the other, a preferred example embodiment uses a stall avoidance timer, a retransmission window in the transmitter, and a receive window in the receiver.
