Abstract: A container for accommodating data storage media such as video cassettes is disclosed. The container has a slider member that carries the storage media and moves out of the housing. The slider member allows the cassette to be grasped freely after ejection of the slider member from the housing. One or more door elements connected to the housing are controlled by the movement of the slider member between open and closed positions. The media are protected by the door element(s) being closed when the slider member is inserted into the housing.

Abstract: A container for a gramophone record or video disc (56) having a housing (10) in which at least one holder (18) accommodating one disc (56) is slideably guided between an inner storage position and an outer removal position. The holder (18) is biassed by a spring assembly (40), and has a locking arrangement (42, 48) which holds the holder (18) in its storage position in the housing (10) against the spring bias and is manually releasable. Each holder (18) has a front wall (32) which covers the housing opening in the storage position, and, in the removal position, the front wall (32) is pivoted transversely with respect to the alignment of the disc (56) to such an extent that the disc (56) is removable in alignment. An ejection mechanism acting on the disc (56) in the removal position is provided which transports the disc (56) further in the ejection direction to such an extent relative to the front wall (32) that it may be gripped pincer-fashion by its main surfaces.

Abstract: Cassettes containing recording media, for example audio tape cassettes, are stored on a transport slider which, upon command, may be ejected from a housing to permit removal and use of the cassette. The slider has projections which prevent unwanted rotation of the winding hubs of a stored cassette, the projections being serially arranged along a line parallel to the direction of travel of the slider, and has a long stroke so that both projections are positioned outside of the housing when the slider is in the ejected position.

Abstract: A container for storing flat recording media, such as compact discs, has a housing and a plurality of media holders which can be moved between a storage position and an ejected position. The holders each receive a single disc and have a normally closed disc insertion slot which opens when the holder is moved to the ejected position.

Abstract: Disclosed is a picture viewer for viewing a stack of pictures sequentially through a viewing window. The picture viewer comprises a housing member, a slider member, a bias means for urging the stack of picture against the viewing window, and an exchange means for sequentially changing the picture that is presented at the viewing window. The exchange means comprises: (a) a retentive element to hold one picture in the housing member when the slider member is moved out of the housing member and (b) a separator bar which pushes the remainder of the stack out of the housing when the slider member is moved out of the housing. To permit relatively smooth operation of the picture viewer, the bias means is mounted on the slider.

Abstract: Easily operable apparatus for storing and retrieving recording media, magnetic tape cassettes and compact discs for example, is characterized by a housing and at least first recording media carrier slidably supported therein for movement between a stored position and a recording medium removal position under the influence of an ejection spring. The storage apparatus is provided with a locking mechanism, for retaining the carrier in the stored position, which will not be unintentionally released in response to rapid acceleration or deceleration when the storage apparatus is mounted within a motor vehicle.

Abstract: A magazine for sound recording media suitable for vehicle installation comprises an outer housing which defines, through the use of a plurality of inwardly extending ribs, a recess which receives the inner housing or housings which include the media receiving drawers or sliders. An impact absorbing frame is provided around the access opening at the front of the outer housing. The outer housing is mounted, by means of integral hubs, from a support by means of a yoke. The hubs are relatively rotatable with respect to the yoke to permit the outer housing to be positioned in a desired angular orientation.

Abstract: A container suitable for storing compact discs conveyed in motor vehicles comprises a housing from which the stored discs can be ejected by means of a single transporter associated with a plurality of discs. The transporter may be selectively coupled to only one disc holder. The transporter is preferably a slider member which is arranged to slide in the housing, can be locked in the housing against a spring bias and unlocked manually, and has a front wall to cover the open front of the housing when the slider member is inserted. The selector mechanism and the unlocking operation can be actuated from the outside of this front wall.

The locking mechanism does not employ any spring elements which are in a stressed condition in either the locked or unlocked positions.
