  • Publication number: 20150370825
Abstract: A scalable eventual consistency system. The system uses logical document journaling to provide eventual consistency across partitions in a large-scale service. The system allows for transactional edits to massively interconnected graphs of documents documents through parallelization without sacrificing linear scalability. The system separates the authority for edits from the replicated storage allowing efficient transactions and linear scalability. All document writes are written to document-specific partitions in a journal where they are queued until the changes are propagated to view-based partitions of a store. By continually checking the journal and attempting to replicate any pending document writes to the store, the system provides eventual consistency without complicated synchronization mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 9033148
Abstract: A sheath for a knife is ventilated or is formed with gaps in a way that sand and other debris cannot collect to dull the knife's blade. The sheath holds the knife, protects and safely covers the sharp edge, but does not provide a surface for abrasive sand to dull the edge. The sheath can include front and rear panels, held together with a plurality of spacers disposed between the panels. The spacers can be rounded to as to minimize contact between the spacers and the blade of the knife.

  • Patent number: 8635027
Abstract: A method of determining common three-dimensional structural features of protein surfaces is provided, as is use of representations of these common structures in molecular database searching and in designing focused molecular libraries. The method is particularly concerned with the analysis and representation of protein surfaces such as b-turns, loops and contact surfaces. In one form, the method identifies common locations and orientations of amino acid side-chains, simplified as C?-C? vectors. In another form, the method identifies common regions of surface charge represented by grid points in three-dimensional space. Further provided are common three dimensional structural features of proteins that can be used to search molecular databases for the purposes of identifying molecules that match these common three dimensional structural features.

  • Patent number: 8527795
Abstract: A method, system, and computer usable program product for improving processor performance during power supply failure are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A throttled condition of a processor is detected in a data processing system. A voltage of the electrical power being provided to the processor is reduced. The processor is un-throttled. Additionally, a frequency of electrical power being provided to the processor may also be reduced. A determination is made whether a condition that caused the throttling has been corrected. In response to the condition having been corrected, the frequency is returned to normal frequency and the voltage is returned to normal voltage. The reducing the frequency operation and reducing the voltage operation may each be performed by distinct components communicating over a data network external to the data processing system.

  • Patent number: 8073088
Abstract: A system and method for interference cancellation of received data via a communication channel in a cellular communication system having corresponding channel impulse response coefficients. Linear filtering of the received data is performed and thereafter a non-linear detection is executed to get detected data by non-linear signal processing. Filter coefficients are determined for linear pre-filtering of the received data to suppress non-Gaussian interference. The pre-filtered data is further processed by non-linear detection to get detected data.

  • Patent number: 7968810
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electronic signal switching module with connectors on a first side for connecting with a variety of devices and sources and with jacks for receiving patch cords on a second side. The switching modules include two position switches in the circuitry connecting the jacks with the connectors which allow the module to be configured as a straight-through patching module, a fully normal module with paired jacks or a half normal module with paired jacks. One alternative of the invention utilizes card edge connectors on the first side. Another aspect of the invention involves a chassis for holding a plurality of switching modules adjacent to and electronically connected with a plurality of connecting modules. The switching modules may also include designation lenses adjacent to the jacks for holding indicia.

  • Publication number: 20090234706
Abstract: A method of auctioning contact with prospective customers. A user profile associated with a prospective customer and use of proxy information to establish a communication channel by which the prospective customer may be contacted is auctioned to a plurality of bidders and, upon receiving bids, a group of winning bidders is determined.
