  • Publication number: 20120321254
Abstract: The present invention relates to a field of optical fibre communication. A safeguard device for a fibre adapter used to connect an input optical fibre connector with an output optical fibre connector is provided. In a preferred embodiment, the safeguard device comprises a shutter and a shutter locking unit. The shutter is operably provided at an interface of said fibre adapter to allow the interface to switch between an open position and a closed position, wherein, the shutter at least shuts off the optical beam emitted from the input optical connector when in said closed position. The shutter locking unit is adapted for selectively locking the shutter in the open position or in the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20070062670
Abstract: A casing for containing apparatus which in use generates heat, the casing including a heat exchanger arranged to act as a removable wall (preferably a lid) of the casing, and fluid directing means arranged to be on the exterior of the said removable wall for directing a heat transfer fluid in thermal contact with the said wall in use, such that heat generated in the interior of the casing is transferred to the heat transfer fluid by conduction through the material of the said wall.

  • Publication number: 20070018354
Abstract: Described herein is a process and apparatus for the production of an article made of moulded plastic material including a first component formed in a first step of injection and possible compression, and at least one second component overmoulded on said first component in a second step of injection and possible compression step. The two steps of injection and possible compression are carried out within the same moulding cavity defined between a mould and a countermould in a single station, without any need for displacing the countermould into a second station.

  • Publication number: 20030157905
Abstract: A transmitter for improving the spectral characteristics of a transmitted output signal includes a phase modulator for receiving a signal and modifying the phase of the signal, a power amplifier for receiving the phase modified signal from the first operation and amplifying the phase modified signal, and an amplitude modulator for receiving the amplified phase modified signal and modifying the amplitude of the amplified phase modified signal. Although the phase and amplitude modulation are performed separately in order to minimize the amplitude distortion without complicating the design of the phase modulator, the combined effect of the phase and amplitude modulation is to filter the out of band spectral emissions of the transmitted output signal.

  • Patent number: 6344615
Abstract: A closure is provided including a casing part having at least one opening configured to receive an elongate object within the casing part. A sealing chamber defined by the casing part is positioned adjacent the opening so as to receive the elongate object in the sealing chamber and a sealant material is positioned in the sealing chamber. A relatively displaceable wall part of the casing part in provided in various embodiments which communicatively contacts the sealant material and is coupled to another part of the casing part by a flexible hinge part so as to allow movement of the relatively displaceable wall part relative to the other part of the casing. A compression means may be provided for applying a compressive force to the sealant material through the relatively displaceable wall part.

  • Patent number: 6148050
Abstract: A phase digitizer and method with error compensation is provided that utilizes recordings from a digitally generated phase reference to measure the relative time between events, such as, for example, between the input zero crossing and sample pulse events. The digital reference has a constant frequency which is equal to the desired signal frequency, and thus the phase of the reference can be used to measure the time between events. Consequently, by using the existing digitally generated phase reference, the hardware "costs" associated with implementing the prior phase digitizer error compensation approaches can be significantly reduced and/or eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5818888
Abstract: A sample rate converter is described for converting an input data stream including a plurality of input samples at one sample rate to an output data stream including a plurality of output samples at another sample rate. The converter uses an interpolation approach that utilizes an integer accumulator to track the timing relation between input samples and output samples. Based on the value of the accumulator, the method determines if the correct input samples are being used to calculate the current output sample. If so, the output sample is calculated as a function of the input samples and the accumulator value. The converter provides the robustness of a table based conversion approach without the need to pre-calculate and store a table, simplifies the calculations involved, and is less sensitive to numeric round off errors.
