Publication number: 20060109115Abstract: A cable lock device includes a housing, a tampering subsystem, and a cable having a first end and a second end. The first end is attached to the housing and is electrically connected to the tampering subsystem and the second end is selectively attached to the housing. In addition, a switch is disposed within the housing and is electrically connected to the tampering subsystem. The switch is movable between an open state and a closed state to indicate when the second end is attached to the housing. The tampering subsystem includes control circuitry that monitors the position of the switch and the status of the cable to detect removal of the second end from the housing and/or severance of the cable. The control circuitry relays status information of the cable lock device to a control unit via a transmitter to alert a property owner of a security breach.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2004Publication date: May 25, 2006Inventors: Robert Bradus, Lawrence Milburn, James Watson, Peter Bressler, John Coleman, David Schiff

Patent number: 6925716Abstract: A shaving apparatus is provided that includes a reservoir, a support carriage, a razor cartridge, and a handle. The reservoir, which is operable to contain a non-solid shaving aid material, includes a selectively collapsible side wall surrounding an interior cavity having a volume. The support carriage includes a guide member and an applicator panel. The applicator panel includes one or more ports in fluid communication with the reservoir. One end of the reservoir is attached to the support carriage, and the other end of the reservoir is attached to the handle. The razor cartridge is mounted on the support carriage adjacent the applicator panel. The support carriage is movable relative to the handle in a manner that enables the reservoir side wall to collapse to decrease the volume of the reservoir, and thereby transfer shaving aid material from the reservoir to the one or more ports.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2003Date of Patent: August 9, 2005Assignee: Eveready Battery Company, Inc.Inventors: Peter Bressler, David Schiff

Patent number: 6918891Abstract: A safety needle assembly has a hub and a needle cannula that projects distally from the hub. A shield is mounted on the needle cannula and can move from a proximal position adjacent the hub and a distal position for shielding the tip of the needle cannula. A fin projects from the hub to facilitate digital manipulation of the needle assembly. A proximal arm is hinged to the hub and a distal arm is hinged to both the proximal arm and the shield. The proximal arm is releasably engaged with the fin when the shield is in the proximal position. However, digital forces on the arms enables the shield to be propelled to the distal position.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2003Date of Patent: July 19, 2005Inventors: Peter Bressler, John D. Coleman, Mathieu Turpault

Patent number: 6881202Abstract: A shieldable winged needle assembly includes a hub and a cannula projecting distally beyond the hub. A spring is telescoped over the cannula and engages with or into distal portions of the hub. A hub guide projects radially out from the hub. A first wing includes a center sleeve rotationally mounted on the hub and axially movable along the hub when a slot formed in the center sleeve aligns with the hub guide. A second wing has proximal and distal sleeves mounted at opposite ends of the center sleeve. The proximal and distal sleeves each are rotationally mounted relative to the hub and each include slots that enable sliding movement of the hub guide when the slots of the second wing align with the slot of the first wing. The spring propels the cannula and hub into a shielding position when the slots of the wings are rotated into alignment with one another.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 2003Date of Patent: April 19, 2005Assignee: Becton, Dickinson and CompanyInventors: John D. Publication number: 20050046255Abstract: A chair is operable between a seating position and a rise-assist position. The chair comprises a base; first and second legs; a seat pivotally connected to the first and second legs; and a back pivotally connected to the seat. The chair further comprises first and second members pivotally connected at a first end to the legs, and pivotally connected at a second end to the back. At least portions of the legs, first and second members, back and seat form first and second four-bar linkages, respectively. At least one biasing member is pivotally connected at a first end to one of the base and at least one of the legs and pivotally connected at a second end to at least one of the four-bar linkages. The at least one biasing member operates to assist movement of the chair between the seating position and the rise-assist position.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 12, 2003Publication date: March 3, 2005Inventors: Peter Bressler, Andrew Weiman

Patent number: 6553882Abstract: A housing having an integral receptacle which is particularly useful for pencil sharpeners. The receptacle is attached to the body so as to be pivotable between a closed position, for closing a cavity of the housing, and an open position, for exposing the cavity. This is useful, for example, for emptying pencil shavings in a pencil sharpener. Attachment of the receptacle to the housing minimizes accidental opening of the receptacle and spillage of shavings. In the open position, the receptacle also serves as a spout for controlled disposal of shavings. In the preferred embodiment, the housing and receptacle have a mating rib and groove on opposing sides of the cavity which interfit when the receptacle is in the closed position to form a seal trap shavings within the cavity. Additionally, the receptacle is provided with a lower surface and rearward edge positioned to form a seal with the housing when the cover is in the closed and open positions, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2000Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Assignee: Hunt Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Phillip Bruce Daley, Jr., Peter Bressler, Peter Byar, John Coleman, Leslie Juhng, Mathieu Turpault
