  • Patent number: 6390544
Abstract: An open roof construction for a vehicle having an opening in its fixed roof comprises a frame with stationary guide rails extending on either side of the roof opening and operating mechanisms which are movable therein. Each operating mechanism comprises a driving slide which is connected to the panel of the open roof construction and which can come into engagement with a movable link slide so as to enable the sliding movement of the panel, in such a manner that said driving slide and said link slide move jointly during sliding movement of the closure element, and the driving slide moves relative to the substantially stationary link slide during movement in vertical direction of the closure element. The link slide includes a locking member for locking the link slide in position relative to the guide rail during movement in vertical direction of the panel.

  • Patent number: 6364406
Abstract: An open roof construction for a vehicle having an opening in the fixed roof comprises a frame to be fixed to the roof and an adjustable panel supported by the frame and being adjustable between a closed position closing the roof opening and an open position in which it releases the roof opening on the front side. There is provided a sun screen slidably guided with its side edges within guide groves in guide rails, which are open in a direction to the sun screen. This guiding is effected by means of sliding shoes which are biased outwardly with respect to the sun screen by means of spring members. Two sliding shoes on both sides of a fixing point to the sun screen are connected to the sun screen and are pre-tensioned by a respective spring member. There are provided means for loading the spring members in vertical direction, symmetrically with respect to the fixing point.

  • Patent number: 6343833
Abstract: An open roof construction for a vehicle having an opening in its fixed roof comprises a frame to be fixed to the roof and a closure element supported by the frame. Said closure element is adjustable between a closed position, in which it closes the roof opening, and an open position, in which it releases the roof opening at least partially. An operating mechanism for adjustably supporting said closure element includes a drivingly movable driving element and an arm connected thereto by means of a pivot, which arm engages the movable driving element asymmetrically and which effects an adjustment of the closure element by means of said driving element by moving said driving element. The driving element and the arm include mating contacting surfaces formed concentrically about the pivot, at least some of which extend substantially perpendicularly to the direction of movement during operation of the operating mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20010054834
Abstract: An open roof construction or assembly for a vehicle having an opening in its fixed roof comprises a stationary part to be fixed to the roof. An upper closure element supported by said stationary part is adjustable between a closed position, in which it closes the roof opening, and an open position, in which it releases the roof opening at least partially. A slidable lower closure element supported by said stationary part can move forward and backward, to which end it is slidably guided in guide rails at its edges or outer portions. The lower closure element includes hook members as engaging elements at said edges, which engage in the associated guide rails and which run substantially clear of the guide rails during normal operation of the open roof construction. The engaging elements will move into engagement with the guide rails when an excessive, upward load is exerted on the lower closure element, so as to retain said lower closure element in its correct position.
