  • Patent number: 7496340
Abstract: A system and method are provided for calibrating for an I/Q mismatch of a direct conversion receiver based on a random signal having a two-dimensional I versus Q trajectory, such as radio frequency (RF) noise. In general, the random signal is received and downconverted to a quadrature baseband signal having an in-phase component and a quadrature component. The variance of the in-phase component, the variance of the quadrature component, and the covariance of the in-phase component with the quadrature component are computed based on samples of the quadrature baseband signal. A correction matrix used to compensate for the I/Q mismatch of the receiver and/or I/Q mismatch including a gain mismatch and a phase mismatch of the receiver is then computed based on the variance of the in-phase component, the variance of the quadrature component, and the covariance of the in-phase component with the quadrature component.

  • Publication number: 20070042013
Abstract: The application relates to long acting injectable (LAI) formulations for combating ectoparasites and endoparasites in mammals. In particular, this invention provides for a LAI formulation comprising a subcutaneously volatile solvent, a biologically acceptable polymer, a bioactive agents and optionally one or more anti-ectoparasitically or anti-endoparasitically acceptable additive or excipient. Surprisingly, the liquid long acting injectable formulations of the invention solve the problems associates with previous injectable formulations by having long term stability, being able to accommodate smaller needle diameters and achieving long acting effects in the control of pests in a mammal. The unique formulations of the invention also allow for combating ectoparasites and endoparasites which have become resistant to macrolide antibiotics.

  • Patent number: 6884239
Abstract: The field of the invention is site-specific drug delivery capsules (SSDC's). The disclosure relates to a closure member (14) for a substance reservoir (12) of an SSDC (10). The SSDC (10) includes a retainer that provides a non-linear force resisting opening of the closure member (14). The non-linear force ensures that the closure member (14) unseals the reservoir (12) only when an opening force exceeds a maximal value of the resisting force, thereby preventing premature or accidental emptying of the reservoir (12). The preferred means of providing the resistive force is a rolling, elastomeric o-ring (64) that additionally seals the closure member (14) into an aperture (13).

  • Patent number: 6791688
Abstract: The invention provides systems and methods for analyzing mixtures and, particularly during processing of the mixtures. The invention provides systems and methods for analyzing mixtures and, particularly, for analyzing mixtures during processing. The methods and systems utilize fluorescence to non-invasively analyze one or more components of the mixture. The analysis may provide a variety of compositional information such as the chemical identity of components, the concentration of components, the uniformity of the mixture and other information. A number of different types of processing equipment can be configured to provide the analysis and, accordingly, the analysis may be performed during a number of processing operations. The system and methods are particularly useful in processing mixtures which are preferably homogeneous blends, such as pharmaceutical products.

  • Patent number: 5943363
Abstract: Disclosed are digital processing techniques for efficiently receiving, sampling and recovering multiple direct-sequence spread-spectrum signals by multiplexing key signal processing elements across many logical channels. Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers serve to illustrate the technique. They receive many signals, each with independent timing, phase, amplitude, and data modulation, which may arrive on multiple carrier frequencies and at multiple spreading rates. To employ digital processing techniques, the carrier or carriers are reduced to one or more digital sample streams. Digital processing (e.g., products, sums, decisions, etc.) is then used to estimate, or recover, the received signal and its characteristics. When these functions can be partitioned by processing rate, the usual case, the lower-rate functions can be efficiently shared with negligible efficiency loss.
