  • Patent number: 11323680
Abstract: Embodiments are described for detecting optical discrepancies associated with image capture analyzing pixels in multiple images corresponding to common points of reference in a physical environment. In an embodiment, photometric error values are averaged over time to compute the mean error at each pixel. Once the estimate of the mean error has a sufficient number of updates above a specified value, the estimate is thresholded to provide a mask of any optical discrepancies occurring in the stereo pair of images. Applications include detecting optical discrepancies in images captured for use by a visual navigation system in guiding an autonomous vehicle (e.g., an unmanned aerial vehicle).

  • Publication number: 20210377690
Abstract: Determination of a set of acoustic parameters for a headset is presented herein. The set of acoustic parameters can be determined based on a virtual model of physical locations stored at a mapping server. The virtual model describes a plurality of spaces and acoustic properties of those spaces, wherein the location in the virtual model corresponds to a physical location of the headset. A location in the virtual model for the headset is determined based on information describing at least a portion of the local area received from the headset. The set of acoustic parameters associated with the physical location of the headset is determined based in part on the determined location in the virtual model and any acoustic parameters associated with the determined location. The headset presents audio content using the set of acoustic parameters received from the mapping server.

  • Patent number: 11145051
Abstract: The present approach relates to the use of a point cloud of an object to initialize or seed a space carving technique used to generate a 3D model of the object. In one implementation, feature matching is performed on 2D images, with matched features constituting the points of a point cloud model. The point cloud generated in this manner, is one input of a foreground/background segmentation algorithm, which generates a set of segmented 2D images used by a space carving routine to generate a 3D model of the object.

  • Patent number: 11112389
Abstract: A headset generates an output audio signal to provide a virtual sound source for an object or virtual object by using a room impulse response generated by a simulation using a model of a room generated from image data. The headset may include processing circuitry that obtains the model of the room determined based on the image data. The image data includes depth image data from a depth camera assembly and color image data from a color camera. The model includes surfaces of the room and acoustic absorptions of the surfaces. The processing circuitry adjusts audio content presented by the headset based on a room impulse response determined based on one or more simulations of sound propagation between a target position of an object and a position of the headset within the room using the surfaces of the room and the acoustic absorptions of the surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20210263515
Abstract: In some examples, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) employs one or more image sensors to capture images of a scan target and may use distance information from the images for determining respective locations in three-dimensional (3D) space of a plurality of points of a 3D model representative of a surface of the scan target. The UAV may compare a first image with a second image to determine a difference between a current frame of reference position for the UAV and an estimate of an actual frame of reference position for the UAV. Further, based at least on the difference, the UAV may determine, while the UAV is in flight, an update to the 3D model including at least one of an updated location of at least one point in the 3D model, or a location of a new point in the 3D model.
