  • Publication number: 20170099358
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for increasing messaging activity in a messaging system. Using the interactions of users with each other and/or with the messaging system, the disclosed systems and methods can predict how likely a pairing of two or more users are to engage in a highly active messaging thread. • Publication number: 20170076563
Abstract: According to some embodiments, a signal processing unit may receive distributed acoustic sensing data associated with a first set of a plurality of pipeline locations. The signal processing unit may also receive collected physical data representing a physical characteristic of a second set of a plurality of pipeline locations. The signal processing unit may then utilize a pipeline model having the distributed acoustic sensing data and collected physical data as inputs to automatically generate at least one alert indicating an increased probability of damage to the pipeline.

  • Patent number: 9477905
Abstract: A novel technique for unsupervised feature selection is disclosed. The disclosed methods include automatically selecting a subset of a feature of an image. Additionally, the selection of the subset of features may be incorporated with a congealing algorithm, such as a least-square-based congealing algorithm. By selecting a subset of the feature representation of an image, redundant and/or irrelevant features may be reduced or removed, and the efficiency and accuracy of least-square-based congealing may be improved.

  • Patent number: 9430919
Abstract: A first device presents first information that is associated with a first mode of operation. The first device receives a communication from a second device that is communicably coupled to the first device. The communication instructs the first device to perform an operation corresponding to an event associated with the second device. In response to receiving the communication from the second device, the first device presents second information that is associated with a second mode of operation corresponding to the event associated with the second device. The second information is presented by the first device concurrent with a processing associated with the event that is performed by the second device.

  • Publication number: 20160180199
Abstract: A novel technique for performing video matting, which is built upon a proposed image matting algorithm that is fully automatic is disclosed. The disclosed methods utilize a PCA-based shape model as a prior for guiding the matting process, so that manual interactions required by most existing image matting methods are unnecessary. By applying the image matting algorithm to these foreground windows, on a per frame basis, a fully automated video matting process is attainable. The process of aligning the shape model with the object is simultaneously optimized based on a quadratic cost function.

  • Publication number: 20160140386
Abstract: A tracking and recognition system is provided. The system includes a computer vision-based identity recognition system configured to recognize one or more persons, without a priori knowledge of the respective persons, via an online discriminative learning of appearance signature models of the respective persons. The computer vision-based identity recognition system includes a memory physically encoding one or more routines, which when executed, cause the performance of constructing pairwise constraints between the unlabeled tracking samples. The computer vision-based identity recognition system also includes a processor configured to receive unlabeled tracking samples collected from one or more person trackers and to execute the routines stored in the memory via one or more algorithms to construct the pairwise constraints between the unlabeled tracking samples.

  • Publication number: 20160103922
Abstract: A social networking system selects a set of contacts for presentation to a user of the social networking system. A contact is an additional user or a group of users maintained by the social networking system. To select the set of contacts, the social networking system generates scores associated with additional users of the social networking system and groups of users based on interactions between the user and various additional users and between the user and groups of users. Based on the scores associated with additional users and with groups of users, the social networking system selects a set of contacts from the additional users and the groups of users. Information identifying the set of contacts is communicated from the social networking system to a client device for presentation to the user.

  • Patent number: 9288963
Abstract: A device for removing dirt from a floor includes a carrier frame moveable over the floor, a motor mounted on the carrier frame, and a rotating body drivable by the motor and connected with the carrier frame. Several shovel-holders for shovelling dirt from the floor are mounted on the rotating body spaced apart from each other in the peripheral direction, are moveable along a path along the floor, and each have an open end in the rotation direction of the rotating body. A sweeper device for sweeping dirt out of one of the shovel-holders is arranged along the path of the shovel-holders on the carrier frame at a position substantially stationary in relation to the carrier frame, and is fitted with a sweeper element which, on rotation of the rotating body, moves between the shovel-holders and sweeps through one of the shovel-holders in order to sweep out dirt therefrom.

  • Patent number: 9259099
Abstract: A mattress comprising a foam base, a foam core, and a foam comfort layer. The foam core may be reinforced with firmer transverse members selectively placed along the length of the core. The core may also include air passages. The comfort layer may comprise interlocking upper and lower layers configured to form ventilation channels that operate in a bellows-like fashion moving moist, warm out and drawing fresh air in as the sleeping body moves and shifts through the sleep cycle. The ventilation channels in the core and the comfort layer provide for effective dissipation of heat and moisture even from the innermost regions of the mattress. A cooling gel top layer may be included, and the entire assembly may be covered with a fabric top panel and surround. The surround may be vented to facilitate air movement in and out of the mattress.
