  • Publication number: 20160100166
Abstract: A device comprising: an encoder for encoding a video signal representing a video image of a scene captured by a camera, and a controller. The encoder comprises a quantizer for performing a quantization on the video signal as part of said encoding. The controller is configured to receive skeletal tracking information from a skeletal tracking algorithm relating to one or more skeletal features of a user present in the scene, and based thereon to define one or more regions-of-interest within the video image corresponding to one or more bodily areas of the user, and to adapt the quantization to use a finer quantization granularity within the one or more regions-of-interest than outside the one or more regions-of interest.

  • Patent number: 8777179
Abstract: A drive mechanism for the movement of an object along an axis of motion comprises two clamping elements and a drive element disposed between the two clamping elements which enables a relative movement of the two clamping elements along the axis of motion. Each clamping element comprises a base body and two clamping jaws, wherein a piezo-actuator is disposed between the base body and at least one of the two clamping jaws, which can produce a clamping force acting on the object which is directed transversely to the axis of motion. The base bodies of the two clamping elements are connected by at least two expansible elements. The drive element comprises a further piezo-actuator, which enables the relative displacement of the two clamping elements along the axis of motion. The drive mechanism is suitable for application in a micro-valve.

  • Patent number: 8302130
Abstract: Optimized scanning for EPG data in the streams is provided by performing interim scans based on user data. The user data is gathered based on services accessed by one or more users of the device. The streams are then ranked according to the data and a scan threshold of a subset of streams to scan is defined. A interim scan occurs on a subset of streams up to the threshold streams after a first time interval after which scanning may end.

  • Patent number: 8225354
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed herein for merging EPG data associated with a variety of program sources. In one aspect, EPG data is accessed for different program sources and rules are selected that define how entries in the EPG data are to be merged. The rules may be selected based on whether the EPG data was collected in-band or out-of-band. In addition, the merging rules can be dependent on the program source, which allows the flexibility of applying different rules to different program sources. The EPG data from the different program sources is merged into a single EPG based on the selected rules.

  • Publication number: 20110263957
Abstract: The invention concerns a test system for carrying out blood sugar tests with a diagnostic tape cassette which comprises a windable analytical test tape for detecting an analyte and a cassette housing accommodating the test tape, and a test device which has a device housing for inserting and removing the tape cassette and a measuring unit for detecting the analyte on the test tape. According to the invention it is proposed that the tape cassette can be detachably fastened by positioning elements on a platform mounted in the device housing and that the measuring unit is rigidly attached on the platform or can be engaged therewith.

  • Publication number: 20090184027
Abstract: A protective container (10) wherein a flexible wall (14) is connected to a base (20) and a cap (26). Deflection of the flexible wall (14) buffers the contents of the container (10) against impacts and is limited by the rate of air flow between one end of the flexible wall (14) and a cap (26) that closes container (10).

  • Patent number: 7352110
Abstract: A tool head includes a holder for accommodating a tool and two actuators each of which is connected to the holder via a web. On the one hand, the actuators enable the holder to be deflected by a few micrometers from a resting position and, on the other hand, enable ultrasound to be applied to the holder. For this purpose, the actuators contain a piezoelectric drive. Depending on the application, the tool head can be mounted on a conventional machine tool. The tool head is suitable for many applications, in particular for the production of micro-mechanical structures in the surface of a workpiece.

  • Publication number: 20070181573
Abstract: A container comprising a first tubular body defining a fastening structure and a seam that extends across an end wall, and at least one depressed channel formed in the end wall. The seam is located in the depressed channel so as to separate the seam from the contents of the container. In an embodiment, there is a second tubular body secured to the first tubular body by a fastening structure that cooperates with the fastening structure of the first tubular body. The second tubular body also has a seam that extends across a wall that is located in a depressed channel so as to separate the seam from the contents of the container.

  • Patent number: 7236498
Abstract: The method serves for calling a substation (USm) by a central station (Z) in a transmission system for the purposes of information transmission by way of a communication channel (m) called from a plurality of communication channels. The plurality of communication channels is subdivided into communication groups (GRI, GRII, GRIII) of the same property or the same parameter values. Within a selected communication group (GRII) a communication channel (m) is called, which is still communication-free. If all (n) communication channels of the communication group (GRII) are already busy, the central station (Z) goes into a waiting condition until at least one of the communication channels of the communication group (GRII) becomes communication-free.

  • Patent number: 7152530
Abstract: A printing form (10) having a surface (12) of pure silicon or of a silicon ceramic, which bears a pattern composed of hydrophilic and hydrophobic regions, the hydrophilic regions having a first chemical state and the hydrophobic regions having a second chemical state that differs from the first chemical state, in hydrophobic regions, the surface (12) having silicon atoms, to which at least one organic terminal group is attached in each instance. The organic terminal group may be, in particular, an unsubstituted or halogenated aryl terminal group or alkyl terminal group and be attached via an Si—C, Si—O—C or Si—O—Si—C bond. Also a method for modifying the wetting properties of the printing form, the surface (12) being brought into a first chemical state having a first wetting property, and a portion of all regions of the surface (12) being brought into a second chemical state having a second wetting property by modifying the chemical terminal groups of the surface (12).
