  • Patent number: 4423566
Abstract: A drive mechanism for the window of a motor vehicle having a driven base member with the window affixed thereto and guided for movement along a longitudinal guide rail is activated by a driving member which is connected with the base member to drive the base member along the guide rail. A guide flange provided on the guide rail is engaged with slide elements formed on the base member which are arranged to rest against the sides of the guide rail and at least one of the slide elements is formed with a flexible construction. The slide elements include a pair of lateral slide elements arranged spaced apart in the longitudinal direction of the guide rail which rest against one side of the guide flange and a central slide element arranged between the lateral slide elements which rests against the other side of the guide flange.

  • Patent number: 4355778
Abstract: In an adjusting device for a seat in a motor vehicle, a sliding seat guiding mechanism moves the seat in a generally horizontal direction. The guide mechanism includes an upper part secured to the seat and a support member secured to the floor of the vehicle. A rack is attached to the upper part and is driven by a pinion mounted on the support member for moving the seat in the generally horizontal direction. The rack is adjustably mounted on the upper part to permit limited movement of the rack in the generally vertical direction disposed transversely of the generally horizontal direction of movement of the seat so that proper engagement of the rack and the pinion is assured.

  • Patent number: 4254584
Abstract: The bowden cable drivingly connecting a crank on a motorcar door to a carrier for the window in the door has a plastic compression member whose ends abuttingly engage retaining members near the crank and the window carrier. The ends are of non-circular cross section, and their angular movement about the longitudinal axis of the cable is prevented by conforming engagement with respective retaining members.

  • Patent number: 4237656
Abstract: A drive mechanism for the window of a motor vehicle includes a carriage having the window affixed thereto and a carrier attached to the carriage with a drive cable having the carrier fastened in driven engagement therewith. A guide tube made of plastic material surrounds the drive cable and a support tube surrounds the guide tube. Both the support tube and the guide tube are formed with a longitudinal slot through which a portion of the carrier may extend in order to effect the driven engagement between the drive cable and the carrier.

  • Patent number: 4235046
Abstract: An operating mechanism for the window in a motorcar door and the like includes guiding devices, including at least one deflecting element, which engage a wire, cable or other elongated tension member and guide the tension member on the door in a loop-shaped path when the tension member is driven in the path alternatively in two opposite, longitudinal directions. The motion of the tension member is transmitted to the window. The tension member stretches under the longitudinal stresses exerted thereon by the drive and the window and needs to be tensioned. According to the invention, a spring in a permanently stressed condition biases the deflecting element in a direction to lengthen the path of the tension member and for thereby compensating for slack in the engaged portion of the tension member when the tension member moves in one longitudinal direction, whereby the spring reaches a partly relaxed condition.

  • Patent number: 4211122
Abstract: The window in the door of an automotive vehicle is raised and lowered by means of an externally threaded, longitudinally moving cable. The drive arrangement for the cable includes a shell having first and second shell portions of which at least one is formed with an aperture. A pinion is rotatably secured between the shell portions and journaled in the aperture of apertures. A first group of fastening devices fastens the first shell portion to the second shell portion in a predetermined position, but may also fasten the shell portions to one another in each of a plurality of other positions angularly offset about the axis of pinion rotation from the predetermined position. The shell portions define therebetween respective passages through the shell in the several positions of the first shell portion, the passages being approximately tangential relative to the pinion and angularly offset from each other about the axis of the pinion.

  • Patent number: 3987323
Abstract: The motor of an electric window or sunroof operating mechanism for a motorcar has a rotor axially movable on a normally fixed base against the restraint of compression springs. A nut on the tubular motor shaft threadedly engages a cable partly received in the shaft. The cable is longitudinally guided on the base and secured against rotation so that it moves longitudinally to open or close the associated window or sunroof when the motor is energized. When the window or sunroof reaches one of its terminal positions, longitudinal movement of the cable is suddenly brought to a halt, and the motor is deenergized. The shock that would be caused by continued inertial motor rotation at arrested cable is absorbed by the compression springs, thereby significantly increasing the useful life of the mechanism.

  • Patent number: 3974906
Abstract: A ribbon cartridge for a printer provides an unsupported length of ribbon between a pair of spaced guide means to provide for easy threading. In addition, continuous rotation of the ribbon is made possible by storing the ribbon as an endless loop in a random fashion in the principal cavity of the cartridge. A secondary cavity prevents an accidental loop from coming out of the cartridge which would otherwise result in slack in the unsupported length.
