Patent number: 7763197Abstract: A process for the production of a glass run channel is provided wherein the glass run channel has a S-shaped core of a polymeric material, onto which glass and/or frame sealing components are co-extruded. Preferably, a slip agent coating is applied shortly after the sealing components are added so that a completely polymeric glass run channel is produced in a single operation. The polymeric glass run channel is lighter, less expensive and more easily recycled than the prior art glass run channels.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2009Date of Patent: July 27, 2010Assignee: Magna International Inc.Inventors: Peter J. Patent number: 7758798Abstract: A process for forming linear, thermoplastic weatherseals into a bend position is provided which avoids buckling of the thinner surfaces of the weatherseal material. The process involves the use of a support insert which supports the thinner surfaces during the bending operation, and thus assists in preventing the deformation of the thinner weatherseal surfaces. The support is preferable constructed of a material which is unaffected by temperatures higher than the heat-deformation temperature used to set the weatherseal material into a bent configuration, and thus, the support insert retains its linear shape when removed from the bending press, and therefore, can be reused. An improved process for manufacturing bent thermoplastic weatherseal material results.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2007Date of Patent: July 20, 2010Assignee: Decoma International IncInventors: Avi Zohar, Haruhisa Kawase, Peter J. Patent number: 6598736Abstract: An improved tension control apparatus for use in an aero-mechanical conveyor for moving bulk materials includes spaced-apart inflow and outflow conveyor tubes interconnecting the upper and lower housings of the conveyor. A bracket cooperates with the conveyor tubes. A guide sleeve is carried by the bracket for receiving a push rod. The push rod extends along the length of the conveyor tubes from the guide sleeve to the upper housing and includes an upper end engaging the head pulley assembly and a lower end extending through the guide sleeve. A tensioning assembly engages the push rod and is carried by the bracket for urging the push rod against the head pulley assembly, thereby urging the head pulley assembly away from the tail pulley assembly and maintaining tension in the rope assembly. Two dust cap seals interconnect the conveyor tubes with the upper housing to reduce particulate emissions.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2002Date of Patent: July 29, 2003Assignee: Spiroflow Systems, Inc.Inventors: Peter J. Patent number: 5471947Abstract: A method is disclosed for producing an oriented diamond film on a single crystal silicon substrate which comprises preconditioning the surface of the substrate by exposing the surface of the substrate to a carbon-containing plasma, subjecting the preconditioned surface to electrical bias to effect nucleation of the substrate surface for oriented diamond crystal growth while monitoring the completion of nucleation over the surface of the substrate and depositing crystalline diamond on the nucleated surface from a carbon-containing plasma. The resulting structure comprises a crystalline diamond film on the silicon substrate characterised by oriented columnar diamond crystals which form a substantially uniform tessellated pattern. In practice, the columnar crystals normally have a generally quadrilateral shape whose sides are mutually aligned.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1993Date of Patent: December 5, 1995Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko ShoInventors: Paul Southworth, David S.
