  • Patent number: 8469333
Abstract: A valve actuator assembly, counter-biased by a working fluid (or gas) pressure, is disclosed. The valve actuator assembly comprises a valve and a pneumatic or hydraulic actuator. A port is defined axially through the valve and actuator that communicates a working fluid (or gas) pressure acting on the valve face to a counter-biasing chamber inside an actuator housing. This design eliminates, reduces, or overcomes a force acting on a face of the valve by communicating a common working pressure of the fluid (or gas) to a substrate on the actuator with a resultant force vector opposite the valve face.

  • Patent number: 8347283
Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for automatic installation and maintenance of hardware and/or software in the system nodes of a distributed computer system, in particular in a distributed automation system, comprising a system installation and/or system maintenance tool that can be activated from every system node of the distributed system. The system installation and/or system maintenance tool (WZ) selects a software package and/or a functional component, and automatically executes the maintenance steps of the selected software package and/or of the selected functional component as regards the distribution, installation and/or configuration of the software package and/or of the selected functional component in a defined sequence on the system nodes (SK) of the distributed system.

  • Publication number: 20120291936
Abstract: A tire carcass has one or more radially inner ply components extending around an annular bead member to a ply turnup portion, the ply turnup portion extending radially outward from the bead member to a ply turnup end. A carcass barrier layer component is positioned axially inward from and adjacent to the ply component and an electronic tag device is embedded within the tire carcass between the barrier layer component and the ply component in a lower sidewall region of the tire carcass. The electronic tag is positioned at a radial tag distance from a lower sidewall toe location greater than 10 percent of the tire section height distance from the lower sidewall toe location. A radial tag distance is preferred within 15 percent and less than 35 percent of the tire section height as measured with reference to the lower sidewall toe location. The tag is transmission-operative when embedded within the tire carcass between the barrier layer component and the ply component during green tire construction.

  • Publication number: 20120198837
Abstract: A system for controlling an exhaust driven turbocharging system includes a turbocharger having an exhaust inlet, a discharge outlet, a compressor air inlet, and a compressor outlet, a compressor bypass valve having a control port, an inlet port, a discharge port, and a valve for opening and closing the discharge port, and an engine having an air inlet and an exhaust outlet, and may include a wastegate. In the system the compressor outlet of the turbocharger is connected to the air inlet of the engine and is connected to the inlet port of the compressor bypass valve. By controlling the compressor bypass valve and the wastegate higher turbine inlet pressures can be generated for use in other areas of the system. This is achieved by opening the compressor bypass valve in an unconventional area of the internal combustion engine's range where it would normally remain closed.

  • Publication number: 20120132331
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a pneumatic tire 1 comprising at least one pair of parallel annular beads; at least one carcass ply 3 wrapped around said beads; a tread 5; and first and second sidewalls disposed between said tread and one of said at least one pair of beads; as well as a belt portion 7 between the carcass ply 3 and the tread 5. In accordance with the invention, the tread 5 comprises a tread base layer 8 and a plurality of tread blocks 9, wherein the tread blocks 9 comprise at least two different rubber layers 15, 17, 19 arranged radially above each other, whereas the rubber layers 15, 17, 19 of different tread blocks are axially separate from each other.

  • Publication number: 20110127769
Abstract: A pipe coupler for physically connecting and forming a pressurized seal between two sections of pipe. The pipe coupler comprises a body having a through hole, the through hole defining an inner surface of the body. Two contact seals are installed onto two sealing grooves, respectively, located around a circumference of the inner surface. Each of the two pipe sections are inserted into the through hole from opposing ends of the body and are secured to the pipe coupler using retaining fasteners through apertures located through the body. The contact seals form a pressurized seal between the outside surface of the pipes and the inner surface of the body, thereby creating a mechanical and pressurized coupling between the two pipes.

  • Publication number: 20110001273
Abstract: A method, a bladder and an apparatus for shaping and curing a tire, wherein the bladder has two weakened regions corresponding to the shoulder regions of the tire when the bladder is expanded in the cavity of the tire. Upon inflation of the bladder and its expansion in the tire, the bladder contacts first the inner surface of the cavity at the bead regions and progressively the sidewalls, the shoulders and then the center of the tire. The weakened regions are designed to stretch more under a given tension than the remaining regions in order to allow a progressive contact movement of the lateral regions of the bladder with the sidewalls with very little tension and relative movement between the lateral regions of the bladder and the sidewalls of the tire.
