Patent number: 7281779Abstract: Measuring a feed spindle length change in a printing exposer, having at least one exposure head on a carrier moved axially along the drum in a feed direction by a stepping motor and the spindle, carries out the measurement by determining the number of stepping motor cycles needed by the carrier to travel through a reference section parallel to the feed direction. During calibration, an optimum number of cycles per revolution of the exposure drum is set, and the number of cycles needed to travel through the reference section is determined. During an operating phase, the number of cycles needed to travel through the reference section is determined and a corrected number of cycles per revolution of the exposure drum is determined in accordance with the relationship Kk=K0×Mx/M0. The temperature of the components involved in the measurement is kept constant with a temperature control system.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2004Date of Patent: October 16, 2007Assignee: Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AGInventors: Volker Haushahn, Peter Klaus Melzer, Stefan Schmidt

Apparatus and method for peer-to-peer link monitoring of a wireless network with centralized control
Patent number: 7110366Abstract: Centrally controlled wireless networks require reliable communications between the central controller and each of the stations within the wireless networks. The structure of a wireless network is often dynamic, or ad-hoc, as stations enter and exit the network, or are physically relocated. The selection of the central controller for the network may also be dynamic, either because the current central controller desires to exit the network, or because the communication between the current central controller and one or more of the stations is poor. This invention discloses a method and apparatus for assessing the quality of the communication paths among all stations in the network. This assessment is useful as a continual monitor of the quality of the network, and can be utilized to select an alternative central control station based upon the quality of communication paths to and from this station. Additionally, the quality assessment can be utilized to establish relay communication paths, as required.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2002Date of Patent: September 19, 2006Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Samir N. Patent number: 6926638Abstract: The invention relates to a process for carrying out an automated clutch actuation of a motor vehicle with a drive engine and a transmission, connected to said drive engine by way of a clutch, in which process the clutch exhibits both an opened and a closed operating position, whereby to introduce unpowered operating phases the clutch is transferred by means of automation into the opened operating position and to introduce powered operating phases it is transferred by means of automation into the closed operating position. To design such a process more reliably and comfortably, the variables, from which a dangerous situation in time or its termination can be concluded with a certain probability, are measured, according to the invention, so that the clutch can be moved into an operating position (opened or closed), which makes it possible to carry out faster the subsequent request of the driver—such as an acceleration request or a braking request.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2000Date of Patent: August 9, 2005Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Helmut Gimmler, Peter-Klaus Kuhn, Christian Onnen, Friedrich Scherer, Alexander Schwarz, Michael Weiss, Udo Wollenhaupt, Florian Fredy Eckstein, Ursula Else Eckstein, Fredy Eckstein

Patent number: 6915743Abstract: A device and a method detect an edge of a recording material, in particular a printing plate, in an exposer for recording printing originals. An exposer has an exposure drum for holding the printing plate, and an exposure head, which is moved axially along the exposure drum and focuses exposure beams onto the printing plate. The position of the edge of the printing plate is determined by a sensing device. To this end, a sensing finger is pivoted into a groove in the surface of the exposure drum and a signal is generated by a sensor when the sensing finger moves when it touches the edge of the recording material. The sensor used is preferably a microswitch. The axial position of the edge of the printing plate is determined by counting the cycles of the feed drive that moves the sensing device.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2003Date of Patent: July 12, 2005Assignee: Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AktiengesellschaftInventors: Gerhard Fritz Blöhdorn, Peter Klaus Melzer, Heinz Gerhard Franke, Volker Haushahn
