  • Publication number: 20040003849
Abstract: The invention relates to an actuator for actuating a valve installed in a hydraulic or compressed air system comprising a coil support which can be displaced by means of air space induction in a magnetically conducting housing on a magnetic cylinder composed of a permanent magnet and a cylinder pole disk. The invention is characterized in that the dimensions of the permanent magnet and the pole disk correspond to each other in such a way that the diameter of the front surface of the permanent magnet is at least the same size as the circumferential surface of a neighboring pole disk and that the width of the coil associated with the pole disk exceeds the width of the pole disk by the lift amplitude of the coil support.

  • Publication number: 20030182795
Abstract: An assembly machine comprises a machine frame, a plurality of work stations arranged on a circular carrier plate secured on the surface of the machine frame, and a rotary dish that is rotationally driven in cycles and arranged concentrically with the carrier plate. The rotary dish protrudes along the circumference of the carrier plate and forms a ring-shaped support surface for work pieces that surround the carrier plate. The machine frame is a cast machine component that comprises a table-like substructure and a console on the top side with a ring-shaped mounting surface for receiving a drive for the rotary dish. The rotary dish drive is a direct drive that comprises a ring-shaped stator with electrical windings that is secured on the mounting surface, and a rotor fitted with permanent magnets. The rotor forms a carrier for and is detachably connected with the rotary dish.

  • Patent number: 6580781
Abstract: A window transparent to electron rays is provided which includes a foil which is transparent to electron rays and an element for supporting a peripheral region of the foil in an operational state. The element is made from a material having a greater linear thermal expansion coefficient than the foil material. The window transparent includes an intermediate layer between the foil and a retaining element. The retaining element acts as a support element and consists of a material having a linear thermal expansion coefficient which is equal or similar to the linear thermal expansion coefficient of the foil material and smaller than the linear thermal expansion coefficient of the material of the retaining element over a processing temperature range. A method of manufacturing a window which is transparent to electrons and an X-ray device with a window transparent to electrons are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20030089441
Abstract: The invention relates to a bracing ply comprising reinforcing elements, which are made of steel cords, for a vehicle pneumatic tire, in particular, for a pneumatic tire used on transporters or light trucks and reinforced pneumatic tires. Said bracing ply is provided with two steel cord plies (bracing plies) which are stacked in a radial direction, whereby the radially inner steel cord ply is wider in the axial direction of the tire than the radially outer steel cord ply. In addition, the individual steel cords of a ply run diagonally with a slope ranging from 18° to 25° with regard to the zenithal plane of the tire. The radially inner and the radially outer steel cord plies have opposed slopes, are comprised of individual filaments with a filament diameter of 0.32 mm, and are provided with a U+T structure (untwisted+twisted), whereby the radial distance between steel cord plies is smaller in the zenithal plane of the tire than in the shoulder areas.

  • Patent number: 6548937
Abstract: The invention relates to an array of ultrasound transducers which each comprise a membrane that is comprised of diamond or diamond-like carbon, a barrier structure, a piezoelectric layer, a first electrode and a second electrode. The barrier structure ensures strong adhesion of the piezoelectric layer to the barrier structure and thus to the device and that the piezoelectric layer only comprises a single phase. In addition, the barrier structure protects the membrane against oxidation/decomposition during the manufacturing process of piezoelectric layer. The invention further relates to an ultrasound transducer.

  • Publication number: 20020175786
Abstract: A circuit breaker includes a housing; separable contacts mounted in the housing; and an operating mechanism for opening and closing the separable contacts. An overcurrent assembly is responsive to selected conditions of current flowing through the separable contacts and actuates the operating mechanism to trip open the separable contacts. A bonnet forms a U-shape which surrounds the separable contacts and which cools and splits an arc when the operating mechanism trips open the separable contacts. A first bonnet piece forms a first leg of the bonnet, and a second bonnet piece forms a second leg and a base of the bonnet.

  • Patent number: 6437440
Abstract: An interconnect structure and barrier layer for electrical interconnections is described incorporating a layer of TaN in the hexagonal phase between a first material such as Cu and a second material such as Al, W, and PbSn. A multilayer of TaN in the hexagonal phase and Ta in the alpha phase is also described as a barrier layer. • Publication number: 20020085503
Abstract: Centrally controlled wireless networks require reliable communications between the central controller and each of the stations within the wireless networks. The structure of a wireless network is often dynamic, or ad-hoc, as stations enter and exit the network, or are physically relocated. The selection of the central controller for the network may also be dynamic, either because the current central controller desires to exit the network, or because the communication between the current central controller and one or more of the stations is poor. This invention discloses a method and apparatus for assessing the quality of the communication paths among all stations in the network. This assessment is useful as a continual monitor of the quality of the network, and can be utilized to select an alternative central control station based upon the quality of communication paths to and from this station. Additionally, the quality assessment can be utilized to establish relay communication paths, as required.

  • Patent number: 6307453
Abstract: The toggle mechanism of a circuit breaker is connected at one end to the pivoted contact arm and at the other end to a pivoted latch lever which is engaged to latch the toggle mechanism by a latch member pivoted for movement in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the toggle mechanism. The latch member serves as an armature for a trip motor energized by a trip circuit responsive to an arc fault and/or a ground fault to unlatch the toggle mechanism and trip the circuit breaker open. The latch member is also tripped by a helical bimetal responsive to persistent overcurrents and coupled to the latch member through an ambient compensator bimetal cantilevered from the latch member. A flexible shunt connected between the helical bimetal and contact arm passes through an extension of the magnetic circuit of the trip motor to generate a magnetic field of sufficient strength to trip the latch member instantaneously in response to a short circuit.
