  • Patent number: 7036429
Abstract: A transfer cylinder sleeve is provided for an offset printing machine including an inner carrier layer, a compressible layer and a covering layer, where at least one of the layers has a joint or a gap and provided that when a joint or a gap is used in the covering layer, then the transfer cylinder sleeve is applied to a transfer cylinder in register so that the joint in the covering layer rests opposite a tension channel of a plate cylinder during rolling contact of the transfer cylinder with the plate cylinder. Optionally, a non-stretchable layer is provided between the compressible layer and the covering layer, or alternatively, a non-stretchable material is provided in the compressible layer itself.

  • Patent number: 6986305
Abstract: The printing-material web is guided in the same position and plane when the transfer cylinders are moved apart for the flying printing-plate change, so that contact between the web and the transfer cylinders and smearing are avoided, that is to say undesired contact with ink-carrying parts. When the transfer cylinders are moved apart, web-guiding elements at the web inlet and/or web outlet support the printing-material web on both sides during the plate or sleeve change by supporting elements which are narrow or act at points and can be displaced transversely with respect to the printing-material web. The printing-material web continues to be guided in the same position and plane, and smearing is avoided.

  • Patent number: 6216592
Abstract: Large throw-off distances of the transfer cylinders in a double printing unit of a rotary printing machine operating on the rubber/rubber principle are achieved by enabling the two transfer cylinders to be set away from each other, and enabling the two form cylinders to be set away from the respective transfer cylinder. The form cylinder and the transfer cylinder of each printing unit have a drive connection via spur gears, the transfer cylinders are not in tooth engagement via their spur gears, and each printing unit has its own electric motor.

  • Patent number: 6019043
Abstract: An arrangement for fastening a covering on a cylinder of a printing machine, the arrangement including a cylinder having at least one axially extending cylinder groove which defines a groove wall at an acute angle to an outer surface of the cylinder, and a covering including at least one flexible support plate having a leading flange and a trailing flange that are inserted into the cylinder groove so that the leading flange engages the groove wall and the trailing flange is adjacent the leading flange. A spindle is arranged in the cylinder groove so as to be rotatable between a release position and a clamping position, and a leaf spring is mounted on the spindle so as to press, in the clamping position of the spindle, the trailing flange and the leading flange against the groove wall.

  • Patent number: 6019039
Abstract: The invention relates to a web-fed rotary printing press having a plurality of double printing units in which each of the printing units of the double printing units work together in the blanket--blanket method and each has its own drive. Transfer cylinders of each printing unit are driven independently. To permit a rapid change in production, both upon recto and verso printing, the transfer cylinders of the disconnectable double printing units are separable by eccentric bushings or swingable levers such that a web which passes through the printing press is conducted between them without being printed.

  • Patent number: 5771804
Abstract: In a printing unit with two printing groups working together using the blanket-to-blanket method, in order to rotate the form cylinder and the transfer cylinder equally during circumferential register adjustment, the transfer cylinders are drive connected via helical gears and the transfer cylinders and the form cylinders of each printing group are drive connected via straight spur gears. The drive of the printing unit is carried out on one of the helical gears. Circumferential register adjustment of a printing group is carried out by movement of its helical gear.
