  • Patent number: 6606927
Abstract: A blade is used to cut through a film between the panes of laminated glass in the area of a gap produced in the laminated glass the blade is provided on a holding device and can move along the gap. The holding device includes swiveling carrier on which there is a holding part for the blade with a vertical adjustment capacity. The blade is first placed next to the gap on the top of the top pane of the laminated glass. The vertical alignment of the blade is ascertained with a rule for determining the thickness of the laminated glass. Then the holding device is adjusted by a motor such that the blade falls into the gap. When a sufficient immersion depth of the blade into the gap is ascertained via the rule, the film is cut.

  • Patent number: 6491966
Abstract: When a thermoplastic spacer is applied to a glass pane in the production of insulating glass panes, the nozzle from which the plastic with the desired cross sectional shape is extruded along the edge of the glass pane. The speed with which the plastic is applied along the edge of the glass pane is chosen depending on the temperature of the plastic. Here, for a stipulated temperature setpoint the speed with which the plastic is applied along the edge of the glass pane is stipulated. If the temperature increases, the speed is increased; conversely, when the temperature drops below the setpoint, the speed with which the plastic is applied along the edge of the glass pane is reduced. This ensures that the correct amount of thermoplastic is always extruded onto the glass pane and a spacer with a uniform cross section is obtained.

  • Patent number: 6245145
Abstract: In a device for coating of spacer frames (2) for insulated glass panes, there are nozzles on either side of conveyor (1) from which adhesive or sealant is applied to side surfaces (4) of spacer frame (2). Above conveyor (1) there are pressure rollers (10) which press spacer frame (2) against conveyor belt (1) Pressure rollers (10) engage spacer frame (2) in the area of the side edges of inside surface (6) of hollow section (5) which is forming. In this way a frictional connection between conveyor belt (1) and spacer frame (2) is effected and the leg of spacer frame (2) which lies on conveyor belt (1) is guided laterally. Pressure rollers (10) need not be swivelled up when staves (10) move past pressure rollers (10) when spacer frame (2) provided with staves (15) is being coated.

  • Patent number: 6192711
Abstract: A device for transporting and cooling hot glass panes (10) has a support wall (1) in which there are alternatingly stationary support ribs (3) and between two support ribs (3) at a time there are hollow chambers (4) with wall parts (11) which are adjustable in the direction perpendicular to the glass pane (10). In the transport of a glass pane (10) the movable wall parts (11) are aligned essentially flush with the free edges (5) of the support ribs (3). When a glass pane (10) is being transported the hollow chambers (4) are exposed to hot air such that between the glass pane (10) and the support wall (1) for the wall parts (11) pushed towards the glass pane (10) a thin gas cushion (“L”) of hot air forms. When a glass pane (10) is being quenched the movable wall parts (11) are moved back to a greater distance from the glass pane (10). For quenching of a glass pane (10) cold air is blown out of the support ribs (3) in the wall parts (11) which are moved back relative to the glass pane (10).
