  • Publication number: 20080089396
Abstract: A transmitter beamforming technique for use in a MIMO wireless communication system determines a partial description of a reverse channel without determining a full dimensional description of the reverse channel. A correction matrix is developed from the partial description of the reverse channel and a description of the forward channel. The correction matrix is used to process signals to be transmitted via the forward channel, and a steering matrix is used to perform beamforming in the forward channel.

  • Publication number: 20080091764
Abstract: An integrated circuit to control a media player/recorder having a wireless receiver, a storage device, and an output circuit, wherein the wireless receiver receives a signal representing encoded media data, and a method and computer program product for same. It comprises a processor comprising a digital signal processor, and a storage controller responsive to the digital signal processor to store the encoded media data in the storage device; a read channel responsive to the storage controller to read the encoded media data from the storage device; wherein the digital signal processor comprises a decoder to decode the retrieved encoded media data; and a digital-to-analog converter to convert the media data decoded by the decoder to an analog signal, wherein the analog signal is output to the output circuit.

  • Patent number: 7293289
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer-readable media for detecting a security breach in a network comprising an access point and a plurality of transceivers each having a different media access control address comprises, at one of the transceivers, receiving a signal from the access point, the signal representing one or more packets of data; determining a source media access control address for each of the packets; and transmitting an alert packet to the access point when the source media access control address of one of the packets is the media access control address of the transceiver.

  • Patent number: 7248568
Abstract: A wireless network according to the present invention includes a plurality of nodes that transmit and receive radio frequency (RF) signals. An access point broadcasts and receives radio frequency (RF) signals, wirelessly communicates with the plurality of nodes, generates a table containing a list nodes operating in the wireless network, and broadcasts the table to the plurality of nodes. The access point also calculates traffic conditions. A first node receives the table determines a hidden status of a second node in the table. The first node communicates directly with the second node if the second node has a not hidden status and communicates with the second node through the access point if the second node has a hidden status.

  • Patent number: 7239648
Abstract: A method and apparatus enables advanced signal processing in a wireless local area network (WLAN). First and second WLAN transceivers are provided with advanced signal processing capabilities. A maximum interframe period between data and an acknowledgement is required by the WLAN for compatibility. A duration of the interframe period is shorter than a duration that is required to perform the advanced signal processing. The first WLAN transceiver transmits a header and data. A first data field in the header is specified that enables the advanced signal processing. A second data field is specified that defines a data time period and an extension time period. The first WLAN transceiver transmits data during the data time period and dummy data during the extension time period. The second WLAN transceiver receives the header and initiates receiver processing during the extension time period.
