  • Patent number: 8712388
Abstract: A communication device, system and service provider for automatically populating feature capabilities. In one illustrative embodiment, the communication device can begin automatic download of service provider features and content by registering with a service provider. When successfully registered, the service provider can determine a set of available features for the communication device. The available features can be dependent on a number of factors including licensing, location, or subscription of the communication device. Available features can also be dependent on whether the communication device is idle or active. The service provider can notify the communication device with the set of available features. The features can be uniquely identified by a feature identification that represents the service provider and the feature. At any time, when the communication device reports that the user has selected a feature on the device, the service provider can take the appropriate actions.

  • Patent number: 8675836
Abstract: This application relates to providing an end user control of temporary numbers established and linked to a trusted phone number using traditional forwarding mechanisms. Temporary phone numbers can be created and assigned to individuals to provide them with a unique point of contact. The temporary numbers are then linked to the individual's private number. The temporary numbers can be shared with individuals and organizations with whom the individual has an interest in communicating with. However, these numbers will often find their way into the hands of third parties with whom the individual has no interest in talking with. When the user simply no longer feels that the numbers are being properly used, the user can remove the temporary numbers linked with their private number so no further calls can be made and routed to their private number. The temporary numbers can be used to uniquely identify the calling party.

  • Publication number: 20140059125
Abstract: Technology for constructing a contact sharing history is disclosed. One method comprises receiving, at a computing device of a second user, a communication contact information element of a first user. The contact information is linked to a personal identification key associated with the first user. A link to a personal identification key associated with the second user is added to the communication contact information element to form the contact sharing history. The contact sharing history can then be used to identify how the second user obtained the first user's communication contact information element.

  • Patent number: 8635295
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for monitoring and detecting changes in files attached to incoming emails. In one embodiment, if files are attached to an outgoing email, the change service uniquely tags each of the attached files and optionally stores local or remote copies of the tagged files. Additionally, in embodiments, the change service monitors and intercepts incoming emails. If files are attached to an incoming email, the change service identifies whether the files are tagged in a manner unique to the compare service. The change service then matches uniquely tagged files in the incoming email to corresponding files previously tagged by the change service. The change service then compares the two documents and generates reports that identify changes in the received document in relation to the transmitted document. Further, in embodiments, the change service provides visual indicators of the changes within the email application.

  • Publication number: 20130302899
Abstract: Nucleic acid constructs and methods for rendering modifications to a genome are provided, wherein the modifications comprise null alleles, conditional alleles and null alleles comprising COINs. Multifunctional alleles (MFA) are provided, as well as methods for making them, which afford the ability in a single targeting to introduce an allele that can be used to generate a null allele, a conditional allele, or an allele that is a null allele and that further includes a COIN. MFAs comprise pairs of cognate recombinase recognition sites, an actuating sequence and/or a drug selection cassette, and a nucleotide sequence of interest, and a COIN, wherein upon action of a recombinase a conditional allele with a COIN is formed. In a further embodiment, action of a second recombinase forms an allele that contains only a COIN in sense orientation. In a further embodiment, action by a third recombinase forms an allele that contains only the actuating sequence in sense orientation.

  • Publication number: 20130290116
Abstract: Disclosed is a system for a content wheel displayed on a graphical user interface (GUI) for scrolling through a set of content. The content wheel can present various types of content for which the user can view and interact. The content wheel provides a circular scrolling path for which a user's gestures are tracked. As the content wheel is spun, the content is programmatically changed. This allows continual visual interaction with the associated content and creates a visibly stunning interaction for the user. Additionally, there can be any number of content items displayed on the content wheel, as the school wheel's display and functionality allows for scalability of the interactive and displayed content.

  • Publication number: 20130247160
Abstract: A system and method for user authentication over a communication network are disclosed. The system includes a first device having a contact application and a second device having a contact application. A second device is authenticated by transmitting a first security key associated with the first device from the second device to the first device. The system and method provide a means for users of a communication network to uniquely identify one another, which allows users to be uniquely identified and authenticated independent of a device, network, and/or application used for communication.

  • Patent number: 8537994
Abstract: A system granting access to application data and methods thereof are provided in the present disclosure. Application data can be sent that can be utilized by applications resident within a telephony switching system or end devices involved in a call. When the calling party dials the called party, the switching system can be triggered to substitute a database key into the calling party number. The switching system can use the act of making the call to enable permission for the called party to access the data referenced by the database key. The telephony switching system, having provided the key, is capable of mapping the key back into the original calling party number. This allows the calling party number, through the database key, to be stored as a contact or dialed from a call log, which can provide backwards compatibility to devices that do not support this feature.

  • Publication number: 20130223607
Abstract: A multi-mode device for providing call waiting network identification. The device can establish a first call through a first network. While communicating through the first network, a second call can be received from a second network. The first network can be independent of the second network and operate separately on the multi-mode device. The multi-mode device can inject an alert specific to the second network into the call through the first network signaling the call through the second network. By providing the alert, the user of the multi-mode device can determine if the call waiting tone is for business or personal giving the user the chance to ignore the call and continue talking without having to take the handset away from their face, activate the screen and view the caller identification information to decide whether or not to take the call.

  • Patent number: 8515488
Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to mobile subscriber identities for mobile devices, and more particularly, to dynamic assignment of International Mobile Subscriber Identities (IMSIs) to reduce roaming and overuse charges. Instead of using a reprogrammable embedded Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card for remote activation of a device, mobile carrier charges, such as roaming and over limit usage fees, can be significantly reduced by reprogramming SIM cards dynamically from a pool of available mobile accounts. A smaller pool can be utilized to meet the needs of a large group, rather than a one-to-one association implemented within today's phones. Resource usage can be tracked and as one account reaches its maximum, a new account can be assigned to the mobile device to prevent overuse charges. Existing FMC concepts can insure single number inbound or outbound caller identification regardless of the name or number associated with the SIM card for the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20130210393
Abstract: A system having location based proximity features and methods thereof are described. A voicemail system can be accessed for a pre-recorded voicemail. When targets are within range they can get the message. The system can provide a callback feature allowing an originating device to be contacted when a device is detected within range of the defined location. The system can provide location based calling features. Participants within a geographic area can answer a call located within a range of the defined location. Conditional callbacks within a geographic area can be used for querying a group of selected parties within a location. The participants can decide to accept the call based on conditions placed by the caller. Ring groups for those participants can be established. Participants within a geographic area can be forwarded a call. Intelligent decision facilities can be part of determining whether to forward the call.

  • Publication number: 20130148789
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to unified communications, and more particularly, to a system facilitating meeting device interactions and methods thereof. In an illustrative embodiment, the system can include a calendar booking tool and private branch exchange (PBX) to provide meeting information and telephony capabilities to an open device. Basic meeting information can be provided through the PBX to the device. This information can include a time, date, host and guests of the meeting. The PBX can reuse existing functionality and features for the meeting and provide them to the open device. These features can include, but are not limited to, displaying updates, populating keys and dynamically creating groups. The system can offer intuitive meeting functions on telephony devices having a display with self-labeling keys. Touch screen devices including soft phones can provide these features. The concepts can be extended to touch screen application capable phones.
