  • Publication number: 20060118671
Abstract: A tire size reduction/wire separation system comprising a drive shaft; a plurality of rotors mounted on the drive shaft, each rotor having axial slots with a rotatable knife removably secured within each slot; and an independent housing supporting the drive shaft and rotors. The independent housing has a central region with stationary knives. The roots and crests of the stationary knives are matingly oriented and respect to the roots and crests of the rotatable knives. The independent housing also has lateral regions including an annual wear ring vertically secured to the axial ends of the rotors. Each lateral region also includes a wear liner with a circular opening with a diameter greater than the exterior diameter of the wear rings.

  • Publication number: 20050271635
Abstract: A method for providing a urinary tract tissue graft composition includes providing a tissue culture frame and a segment of small intestinal submucosa and positioning the segment of small intestinal submucosa in the tissue culture frame such that the segment of small intestinal submucosa is suspended and held in a taut position by the tissue culture frame. Smooth muscle and urothelial cells are isolated from a tissue specimen of a subject and cultured, and then seeded upon the segment of small intestinal submucosa, thereby forming a urinary tract tissue graft. A tissue culture frame in which such a urinary tract tissue graft may be formed is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20050272681
Abstract: The invention provides methods for producing high resolution crystals of ribosomes and ribosomal subunits as well as crystals produced by such methods. The invention also provides high resolution structures of ribosomal subunits either alone or in combination with protein synthesis inhibitors. The invention provides methods for identifying ribosome-related ligands and methods for designing ligands with specific ribosome-binding properties as well as ligands that may act as protein synthesis inhibitors. • Patent number: 6922931
Abstract: A weapon system comprising a firearm having a barrel through which a projectile may be propelled and further comprising a non-lethal means for selectively ejecting a stream of fluid, such as an incapacitant, in a direction substantially parallel to the axis of the barrel and aligned with the sights of the firearm. The system removably houses a fluid containing pressurized canister, the outlet of the canister co-operating with a nozzle for the release of said fluid from said canister under control of a nozzle trigger mechanism. • Publication number: 20050132685
Abstract: A wheel mounted grain harvester includes a harvesting head for depositing grain in a grain handling assembly comprised of a plurality of grain moving parts. Control means are located on the harvester for selectively interrupting grain flow along the grain moving parts causing harvested grain from a new separate row segment to temporarily accumulate. Means are provided for transporting the harvested grain from separate row segments into separate collection bins permit the separate evaluation of the harvested grain in each row segment. Means are provided for moving the harvester along the row at a constant rate of speed to avoid the necessity of stopping the harvester between row segments to effect the separate evaluation of the harvested grain. The selective interruption by the control means is accomplished by either interrupting at least one of the grain moving parts or by selectively closing a movable blocking wall mounted on the harvester.

  • Publication number: 20050056196
Abstract: A seed meter for planting seeds includes a seed plate rotatably mounted within a housing. A rotary seed chamber (RSC) is mounted in the housing adjacent the seed plate and movable between first and second positions, to permit the seed plate to singularly select individual seeds from the RSC while in a first position, and to dump seed therefrom as well as blocking seeds from entering the seed plate while in a second position. A seed intake compartment having an inlet end, and a discharge end is located adjacent the RSC. A valve is located in the intake compartment to intermittently prevent seed from flowing from the inlet end to the discharge end. A power means actuates both the RSC and the valve. A wing plate on the rotary seed chamber opens and closes the discharge end as the rotary seed chamber is in its first and second positions, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6797350
Abstract: A coil of stamps is formed from a plurality of self-adhesive stamps detachably connected to each other end-to-end to form a continuous strip. Because the stamps include a primer layer, it is practicable to wind the strip about itself in spiral-like fashion. The strip also includes a portion adjacent to the inner end of the strip having a piece of liner material disposed thereon, and a portion having no liner material thereon, whereby the portion having no liner material thereon allows the strip to be wound directly onto itself. Preferably, the strip of stamps also includes a portion adjacent to the outer end of the strip having a piece of liner material disposed thereon in order to facilitate removal of the first stamp or group of stamps from the strip.

  • Publication number: 20040111998
Abstract: Improved building planks and boards consist of a metal tray (a) filled with a filling material (b). The sides of the tray may be grooved (c) enabling adjacent planks or boards to be assembled coplanar with pipes located in the oppositely facing grooves. The pipes serve to maintain the alignment of the planks or boards relative to one another and by circulating liquid through them enable an array of such planks and boards to be used in thermal transfer applications involving extracting heat from the environment or introducing heat to the array, for example for de-icing.

  • Patent number: 6655435
Abstract: A system for creating a coil of stamps from a web of stamp material having an adhesive applied to a side thereof is provided. The system includes an anvil and a perforation die cooperating therewith with the web passing therebetween in order to perforate the web. The web is passed between the anvil and the die with the adhesive side thereof facing the anvil. The anvil is chilled so as to inhibit the adhesive from adhering thereto as the web is perforated. The anvil may be chilled from an outer surface thereof, or may be hollow and chilled from an inner surface thereof. In the former case, the system preferably includes a trough holding a chilling material through which at least a portion of the outer surface of the anvil is passed. Where the anvil is chilled from an inner surface thereof, a cooling fluid is preferably passed therethrough.

  • Publication number: 20020069186
Abstract: A system and method for applying presort modeling to a mailing. A pre-existing database from a previously run, commercially available presort program is used. The system and method use one or more alternative option sets. Option sets are created from user input of parameters. The system and method permit the user to test alternate parameters by deriving a unique presort mailing and resultant costs and other effects for each option set considered. Resultant costs and other effects are displayed on a monitor or may be exported to a spreadsheet. The presentation format allows the user to readily compare alternatives. This lets the user arrive at an efficient, optimal presort mailing solution consistent with the user's priorities. Additionally, presort strategies outside of USPS regulations may be tested and used in negotiation with the USPS for alternate rate terms.
