  • Publication number: 20170196687
Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve is provided with a cuff having features which promote sealing with the native tissues even where the native tissues are irregular. The cuff may include a portion adapted to bear on the LVOT when the valve is implanted in a native aortic valve. The valve may include elements for biasing the cuff outwardly with respect to the stent body when the stent body is in an expanded condition. The cuff may have portions of different thickness distributed around the circumference of the valve in a pattern matching the shape of the opening defined by the native tissue. All or part of the cuff may be movable relative to the stent during implantation.

  • Patent number: 9700409
Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve may include a stent body with a plurality of cells arranged in circumferential rows and a cuff attached to the stent. A leaflet attachment panel may be attached to and span a portion of one of the cells. A prosthetic valve element, such as a leaflet having a belly, may be mounted to the leaflet attachment panel. The leaflet attachment panel may not be integral with the stent body. A reduced overlap area may be defined between a proximal end of the stent body and a proximalmost point of attachment of the leaflet belly to the cuff. The reduced overlap area may have a size dependent upon the circumferential row of cells the leaflet attachment panel is attached to and a position of the portion of the leaflet attachment panel to which the leaflet is mounted. Alternately, the leaflet may be attached directly to the stent.

  • Patent number: 9668857
Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve includes a stent body with a generally tubular annulus section, which may include one or more circumferential rows of cells. One or more prosthetic valve elements mounted to the stent body operate to allow blood flow in an antegrade direction but to substantially block flow in a retrograde direction. A cuff is attached to the stent body and positioned on a luminal surface of the stent body. At least one sealing member is attached to the cuff. The sealing member may be patch with an open side facing in a first axial direction and a closed side facing in a second axial direction opposite to the first axial direction. Flow of blood in the second axial direction will tend to force blood into the sealing member and cause the sealing member to billow outwardly relative to the stent body.

  • Publication number: 20170143484
Abstract: A stent for use in a prosthetic heart valve has a plurality of expandable and collapsible closed cells, a portion of which form an annulus section adapted for placement within the annulus of the native heart valve. Anchor features of the stent residing within at least some closed cells are adapted to engage tissue of the heart, including native valve leaflets, the sinotubular junction, or another implanted device when the prosthetic valve is implanted in the heart. The anchor features may help to retain the prosthetic valve in position, without interfering with the opening and closing of the valve leaflets. Furthermore, the anchor features may be configured to allow the stent to be resheathed into a delivery device after the portion of the stent with the anchor feature has expanded out of the delivery device.
