  • Publication number: 20120101401
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the real-time identification of seizures in an Electroencephalogram (EEG) signal. The method provides for patient-independent seizure identification by use of a multi-patient trained generic Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. The SVM classifier is operates on a large feature vector combining features from a wide variety of signal processing and analysis techniques. The method operates sufficiently accurately to be suitable for use in a clinical environment. The method may also be combined with additional classifiers, such a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) classifier, for improved robustness, and one or more dynamic classifiers such as an SVM using sequential kernels for improved temporal analysis of the EEG signal.

  • Publication number: 20120102110
Abstract: One conferencing system allows conference participants to share all or a portion of the display seen on their computer screens. The conferees may be at sites removed from each other, or may view a recorded presentation or archived conference at different times. Conference participants are either “presenters” who can modify the display or “attendees” who cannot modify the display. A pointer icon, which can be labeled to identify the conferee, is displayed on the shared image area. Each conferee can modify the position of his or her own pointer, even when not presenting, so that every participant can see what each conferee is pointing to, should a conferee choose to point to an element of the display. These and other features apply to other data streams shared in the conference or in meetings where there is no shared-image data stream.

  • Publication number: 20120101495
Abstract: A surgical tool having an elongate shaft, with a directional operative element at its distal end, is provided with a mechanism to rotate the shaft and the operative element about a longitudinal axis shaft. This allows the operative element to be aligned with an element of tissue without excessive hand movement by the user. In a preferred version, the mechanism is electrically powered and is regulated to produce smooth, controlled, accurate motion between selected rotational positions. The mechanism may include a linear magnetic motor drive to move a drive element longitudinally along the tool. This drive element is engaged with a helical formation on a drive shaft, such that longitudinal motion of the drive element is converted to rotational motion of the drive shaft, and of the shaft and operative element, to which the shaft is mounted.

  • Publication number: 20120098355
Abstract: A linear switched reluctance motor comprises a movable coil bracket including first and second coil assemblies. Each of the first and second coil assemblies further comprises a plurality of coils separately wound around a plurality of motor coil cores, each of the coils being configured to receive a sinusoidal current at a different phase from other coils comprised in the same coil assembly. Tooth members of a stator track are located adjacent to the motor coil cores such that a magnetic flux path is created which passes through the motor coil core, the stator track and an air gap between the motor coil core and the stator track. A multiple-phase motor driver electrically connected to the first and second coil assemblies generates symmetric multiple-phase sinusoidal currents for driving the motor.

  • Publication number: 20120099700
Abstract: An x-ray tube assembly includes a vacuum enclosure including a cathode portion, a target portion, and a throat portion. The throat portion includes a magnetic field section, upstream section, and downstream section. The magnetic field section has a first susceptibility to generate eddy currents in the presence of a magnetic field intensity. The upstream section is coupled to the cathode portion and the magnetic field section and has a second susceptibility to generate eddy currents in the presence of the magnetic field intensity. The downstream section is coupled to the magnetic field section and has a third susceptibility to generate eddy currents in the presence of the magnetic field intensity. The first susceptibility to generate eddy currents is less than the second and third susceptibilities to generate eddy currents. The assembly includes a target within the target portion, and a cathode within the cathode portion.

  • Publication number: 20120102368
Abstract: Error information may be made quickly and easily accessible to an administrator by logging communications attempts in the operating system of a server. When the interface processor resides outside of the operating system, the interface processor may provide indications to the operating system of communications attempts. Specifically, the interface processor may provide message packets to the pass-through communications processor of the operating system when SSL/TLS communications attempts fail to establish secure communications sessions. The message packets may include information useful for diagnosing errors in SSL/TLS communication failures such as errors in the creation and management of certificates, certificate trust, private and public keys, and/or cipher suites. The communications logs in the operating system may be reviewed and/or analyzed by an administrator with a log trace analysis application.
