  • Patent number: 8163638
Abstract: In one embodiment, active diffusion junctions of a solar cell are formed by diffusing dopants from dopant sources selectively deposited on the back side of a wafer. The dopant sources may be selectively deposited using a printing method, for example. Multiple dopant sources may be employed to form active diffusion regions of varying doping levels. For example, three or four active diffusion regions may be fabricated to optimize the silicon/dielectric, silicon/metal, or both interfaces of a solar cell. The front side of the wafer may be textured prior to forming the dopant sources using a texturing process that minimizes removal of wafer material. Openings to allow metal gridlines to be connected to the active diffusion junctions may be formed using a self-aligned contact opening etch process to minimize the effects of misalignments.

  • Patent number: 8164600
Abstract: A system and method for combining images generated by separate sources. The system comprises a plurality of video image data sources that generate separate video images. The video images are captured and scaled by image processing hardware to fit within the viewports of a target window generated by a computing device. The parameters of the viewports are associated with the parameters of the target window such that changes to the target window result in corresponding changes to the viewports. The method comprises scaling the separate images to fit within the viewports using redundant data within each video image to interpolate pixel data at the boundary regions of adjacent images to eliminate artifacts at the boundary regions.

  • Patent number: 8165371
Abstract: A system enhances MR imaging contrast between vessels containing dynamically flowing blood and static tissue using an MR imaging system. The MR imaging system, in response to a heart rate synchronization signal, acquires an anatomical preparation data set representing a spatially non-localized preparation 3D volume in response to a first magnetization preparation pulse sequence. The MR imaging system acquires a spatially localized anatomical imaging data set representing a second imaging volume. The MR imaging system subtracts slice specific MR imaging data of the spatially localized anatomical imaging data set from spatially and temporally corresponding slice specific imaging data of the anatomical preparation data set to derive blood flow indicative imaging data. The temporally corresponding slice specific imaging data comprises data acquired at a substantially corresponding cycle point within a heart beat cycle determined in response to said heart rate synchronization signal.

  • Patent number: 8164796
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate removing punch hole artifacts in electronic document images. When a document with punch holes is scanned, the punch holes appear as unwanted dark spots in the margin. To remove these artifacts, a blanking regions having background color pixels are placed over the punch hole artifacts and the electronic document image is stored with the blanking regions in place. A user interface is provided to permit a user to enter blanking region parameters, including x,y coordinates, diameter, reference edge from which the coordinates are measured, etc. Default settings can be stored and recalled for common punch hole patterns, which may vary between offices and the like.

  • Patent number: 8165713
Abstract: A method and apparatus for milling a desired pocket in a solid workpiece uses an abrasive fluid-jet by moving and suitably orienting the abrasive fluid-jet relative to the workpiece. The method includes defining a path of the abrasive fluid-jet necessary to mill a desired pocket in the solid workpiece. The path is defined by a number of parameters. The parameters include a translation velocity, a fluid pressure, and an abrasive fluid-jet position and orientation relative to the workpiece. Generating a command set is according to the defined path and is configured to drive a computer numerical control manipulator system.

  • Patent number: 8163323
Abstract: A method for preparing bread includes forming a dough billet and providing a frame including a sling of flexible cloth material secured between two cross members, the sling defining an elongate trough sized to receive the dough billet. The dough billet is disposed in the elongate trough such that the dough billet has a predetermined orientation and the dough billet is moved into a cutting station using a conveyor. The dough billet is scored in the sling at the predetermined orientation with an automated cutting station. The dough billet is removed from the elongate trough by raising the dough billet by pressing a contact element against a bottom of the sling and taking the raised dough billet from the frame. • Patent number: 8166470
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method of replacing code in an object oriented application program running on a Virtual Machine (VM). The method comprises the steps of receiving at the virtual machine a request to replace code; in response to receipt of said request, examining each thread's call stack to determine if any thread includes a method that will be made obsolete by a proposed code replacement; and, if it is determined that there are no threads that include such a method in their call stacks, performing the code replacement. However, for a thread whose call stack is determined to include a method that will be made obsolete by the proposed code replacement, the method includes the step of allowing the thread to continue running until the thread unwinds past that method in its call stack and then suspending said thread. This comprises a part of a process of determining a safe state for code replacement. The invention is also directed to a method of initializing new variables in such replacement code.
