  • Publication number: 20170257843
Abstract: A method and apparatus for machine type communication (MTC) authentication and triggering may be performed by an MTC interworking function (MTC-IWF). On a condition an Internet protocol (IP) connection does not exist between a services capability server (SCS) and an MTC device, a device trigger message may be received by the MTC device over a Tsp interface. The device trigger message may include a cryptographic key and may have an associated level of urgency. The method may further comprise determining a level of network congestion and transmitting the device trigger, including the received cryptographic key, to the MTC device in accordance with the associated level of urgency. A report may be sent to the SCS, associated with the determined level of network congestion, to indicate either success or failure of the device triggering procedure. The received cryptographic key may be used to secure an IP connection.

  • Patent number: 9749968
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for sounding reference signals (SRS) configuration and transmission. The methods include receiving configuration of wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU)-specific SRS subframes for transmitting SRS and upon receipt of a trigger, transmitting the SRS for a number of antennas. The SRS transmissions may occur in each subframe of a duration of WTRU-specific SRS subframes that start a number of WTRU-specific SRS subframes after a triggering subframe. For multiple SRS transmissions from multiple antennas, cyclic shift multiplexing and different transmission combs may be used. The cyclic shift for an antenna may be determined from a cyclic shift reference value. The cyclic shift determined for each antenna providing a maximum distance between cyclic shifts for the antennas transmitting SRS in a same WTRU-specific subframe. SRS transmissions from multiple antennas in the WTRU-specific subframe may be done in parallel.

  • Patent number: 9693366
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed such that a WTRU may obtain network operator agnostic wireless access for a service. The WTRU may receive a system information (SI) broadcast from a radio access network (RAN) node. The SI broadcast may indicate that an operator of the RAN node supports service-based network access. The WTRU may send a service request to a virtual service provider to request the service. The WTRU may receive a service response from the virtual service provider. The WTRU may receive a service response from the virtual service provider, the service response indicating a mobile network operator (MNO) to use for obtaining the service and subscription information for accessing the MNO, wherein the MNO is different than the operator of the RAN node. The WTRU may access the MNO to obtain the service.

  • Patent number: 9686771
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for transmitting and receiving data by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) over the control plane. The methods may receive data without the use of an Internet Protocol (IP) address. In an example method, a WTRU may enter an evolved packet system (EPS) mobility management (EMM)-registered control plane only (CPO) state after receiving an attach accepted message for CPO operation, and enter an EMM-deregistered state after receiving a detach message, a tracking area update (TAU) reject message or an attach reject message. In another method, a WTRU may switch between operational modes that use an IP address and a user plane to transmit and receive data, and the CPO mode.

  • Patent number: 9686635
Abstract: Methods and systems may enable the setup and configuration of proximity services between wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) over different sharing paths including via a direct air interface, a radio access network (RAN) or one or more network nodes. • Publication number: 20170105243
Abstract: In an embodiment, a client proxy provides an operating-system-functions (OS-functions) interface to client applications. The client proxy and each of the client applications resides on a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The client proxy receives, via the OS-functions interface, respective registrations from each of a plurality of the client applications. Each respective registration indicates a respective keep-alive-message signaling rate for the corresponding registered client application. The client proxy determines an optimal signaling rate based on the respective keep-alive message signaling rates indicated by the respective registrations. The client proxy generates proxy keep-alive signaling messages that collectively convey keep-alive-message information on behalf of the registered client applications. The client proxy transmits the generated proxy keep-alive signaling messages to a network node at the determined optimal signaling rate.

  • Publication number: 20170064628
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for performing a handover in an evolved universal terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) sends a measurement report to a source evolved Node B (eNB), and receives a handover command from the source eNB. The WTRU initiates reception and processing of a primary broadcast channel (P-BCH) at the target cell after receiving the handover command. The WTRU then sends a random access preamble to the target eNB, receives a random access response from the target eNB, and sends a handover complete message to the target eNB. The reception and processing of the P-BCH may be initiated immediately after receiving the handover command or after sending the handover complete message. The WTRU may apply default configuration or source cell configuration in the target cell until a target cell SFN and/or P-BCH information are acquired.
