  • Patent number: 7584192
Abstract: Systems and techniques to generate statistical reports on transactions conducted via an electronic marketplace are based on data extracted from the transaction documents. In general, in one implementation, the technique includes receiving documents sent through an electronic marketplace, and extracting data from the documents. The extracted data may relate to a predetermined statistical category of transactions conducted through the electronic marketplace. The extracted data may be stored for each document, and the stored data may be aggregated according to the predetermined statistical category. In some implementations, a report may be generated that relates to a document flow analysis for documents sent through the marketplace according to the buyer, seller, time period, document type, and/or other parameters.

  • Publication number: 20090132612
Abstract: A computer network architecture for making procurement-related information that has been generated on a transaction level available to data warehousing techniques is described. The network includes a transaction processing layer with at least one accounting component with a general ledger data base for centrally storing information contained in accounted-related data sets, a data warehousing layer and an additional data sourcing layer. A duplicator receives the data sets that will be or have been stored in the general ledger data base and delivers duplicates of those data sets that fulfil a predefined criteria in a procurement context. A source data base stores the duplicated data sets on a data line level. An extractor of the data sourcing layer interfaces with the data warehousing layer and selectively moves data contained in data lines or sets of data lines from the source data base to the data warehousing layer.

  • Patent number: 7533096
Abstract: A generalized axiomatic definition of information-theoretic similarity is provided for taxonomies that are structured as directed acyclic graph form which multiple terns may be used to describe an object. The definition is adaptable in the presence of ambiguity, as introduced by an evolving taxonomy or classifiers with imperfect knowledge, and two new similarity measures are introduced based on the definitions. A pragmatic implementation is also provided for similarity measures that arc tightly integrated with an object-relational database and scales to large taxonomies and large datasets.

  • Patent number: 7468800
Abstract: A method of determining surface properties is provided, in which radiation is irradiated onto a first region of a surface to be examined, then at least some of the radiation irradiated onto the first region and returned by the latter is detected, and a measured value characteristic of this returned radiation is output. In a further step, the radiation is irradiated onto a second region of the surface and once again at least some of the radiation irradiated onto the second region and returned by the latter is detected, and a second measured value characteristic of this radiation is output. Finally, a result value is output which is characteristic of a relationship between the first measured value and the second measured value.
