    Abstract: A communication method for hearing impaired communication comprising: providing a speech training device to a hearing impaired user, the speech training device configured to teach the hearing impaired user how to determine non-speech sounds. The method further includes providing a haptic output device to a hearing impaired user where the haptic output device is configured to be relasably coupled to the hearing impaired user. The haptic output device receives, a sound input signal comprising a non-speech sound and provides the haptic output signal to an actuator which is in electrical communication with the haptic output device. The actuator actuates in response to the haptic output signal and provides a haptic sensation to the hearing impaired user.

The control mechanism may rotate the first arcuate segment relative to the second arcuate segment to exert torsional force on the intact bone between the proximal and distal segments of the intact bone, thereby externally reducing anteversion of the intact bone.

The communication method also teaches a hearing-impaired person how to speak, and can teach a non-hearing impaired user to speak a foreign language. The communication method includes comparing speech of a user to a model speech, providing feedback to the user regarding the comparison, and repeating until the speech of the user matches the model speech.

In one embodiment, the photodiode has a relatively deep, lightly-doped P zone underneath a P+ layer. By moving the shallow junction to a deeper junction in a range of 2-5 ?m below the photodiode surface, the improved device has improved ruggedness, is less prone to degradation, and has an improved linear current.
