  • Patent number: 9920172
Abstract: A method can include consecutively batch processing at least two different polyethylene grades in pellet form in a pellet handling unit. A ratio of a melt flow index (MI) of a first polyethylene in pellet form (MIf) to a MI of a later processed polyethylene in pellet form (MIl) can be smaller than 0.30. The method can include processing an intermediate polyethylene grade in pellet form. An amount of intermediate polyethylene grade processed can be at most 1/100th of a handling capacity of the pellet handling unit. The intermediate polyethylene grade can have the same MI as the later processed polyethylene in pellet form.

  • Patent number: 9691934
Abstract: The present invention is a photodiode or photodiode array having improved ruggedness for a shallow junction photodiode which is typically used in the detection of short wavelengths of light. In one embodiment, the photodiode has a relatively deep, lightly-doped P zone underneath a P+ layer. By moving the shallow junction to a deeper junction in a range of 2-5 ?m below the photodiode surface, the improved device has improved ruggedness, is less prone to degradation, and has an improved linear current.

  • Patent number: 9585180
Abstract: A communication device for establishing wireless peer-to-peer connections includes a network interface, a memory and a processor. The processor receives a command to initiate a wireless peer-to-peer connection with a second device, sets an intent parameter to a default value and stores the intent parameter in the memory. The processor determines whether a link has been established between the network interface and a wireless base station. When a link has been established, the processor adjusts the intent parameter based on a channel type of the link. The processor receives a second intent parameter from the second device via the network interface, and determines whether the intent parameter is greater than the second intent parameter. When the determination is affirmative, the processor configures the communication device as an access point for the peer-to-peer connection; and when the determination is negative, the processor configures the communication device as a client for the peer-to-peer connection.

  • Patent number: 9433190
Abstract: An animal watering valve that includes a housing having an internal bore having an upstream inlet and a downstream outlet. The housing includes a downstream guard and an upstream cap. The valve is actuated by deflecting a valve stem, located in the bore and accessible by the animal, to open a valve within the housing. The valve may be located in a valve cartridge retainable in the housing in a snap-fit manner. A bite-resistant shield cooperates with the valve stem to act as a barrier that prevents an animal from forcing materials between the valve stem and the guard and lodging the valve stem in its deflected or actuated position.

  • Patent number: 9346260
Abstract: A flexographic printing system uses a flexographic printing plate to produce printed patterns on a substrate. An ink recirculation system is used to reduce variability in system performance resulting from ink viscosity changes. A recirculation pump moves ink through an ink recirculation line connected to an ink reservoir. A metering pump adds a controlled flow rate of solvent from a solvent replenishment chamber into the ink recirculation line, thereby providing replenished ink which is returned to the ink reservoir. A control system is used to control the flow rate of solvent provided by the metering pump responsive to feature characteristics determined by analyzing a captured image of the printed pattern.
