  • Publication number: 20070086437
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling reception of multimedia broadcast/multicast services (MBMS) at a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) are disclosed. In order to control reception of an unwanted service of the MBMS, the WTRU is enabled or disabled for receiving MBMS in accordance with a user input. The unwanted service may be blocked at an application layer or at a lower layer. Either all services or a selected individual service may be blocked. The selection may be based on a type or priority of the content. The selection may be overridden for providing a certain service. To block the unwanted service, reception of an MBMS announcement message is disabled. Alternatively, an MBMS identity is prevented from being passed to a lower layer or is passed with a flag indicating that the unwanted service of the MBMS should not be processed.

  • Publication number: 20070060142
Abstract: A method and apparatus for efficient operation of an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) are disclosed. A physical layer processing includes computation of various control parameters followed by actual processing of the data to be transmitted. In accordance with the present invention, the computation of the control parameters is performed asynchronously from the associated data operation. A medium access control (MAC) layer provides information needed for computation of the control parameters to the physical layer as early as possible, while the data is being processed in parallel. The provided data includes a hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) profile, a transport block size, power offset, or the like. By sending this data to the physical layer before MAC-e processing is complete, the latency constraint can be significantly relaxed.

  • Publication number: 20070049309
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing enhanced uplink scheduling grants are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) detects an absolute grant (AG) and a relative grant (RG). Once the WTRU detects an AG or a RG, a new serving grant (SG) is generated and a hybrid automatic repeat request process may be activated or deactivated depending on whether the received AG is a primary AG or a secondary AG, whether a scheduling mode is a primary AG mode or a secondary AG mode, whether an AG value is set to “INACTIVE” and whether a transmission time interval is 2 ms or 10 ms. A Node-B may send a secondary AG to the WTRU before switching from a primary AG mode to a secondary AG mode and may send the secondary AG only if there is no out-of-date secondary AG exists, which may be detected by implementing a time threshold.

  • Publication number: 20070025300
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) transmissions are disclosed. An enhanced uplink medium access control (MAC-e/es) entity processes a received scheduling grant to calculate a serving grant. The MAC-e/es entity determines whether both a hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) process for scheduled data and scheduled data are available. If an H-ARQ process for scheduled data and scheduled data are available, the MAC-e/es entity determines whether a serving grant exists. The MAC-e/es entity calculates a remaining power based on maximum allowed power and restricts an E-DCH transport format combination (E-TFC) based on the remaining power. The MAC-e/es entity selects an E-TFC using the serving grant and generates a MAC-e protocol data unit. The MAC-e/es entity may process the received scheduled grant is at each transmission time interval or may store the received scheduled grant in a grant list until there is E-DCH data to transmit.

  • Publication number: 20060268884
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling transmissions of data via an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) are disclosed. A list of available transport format combinations (TFCs) is generated based on a plurality of dedicated channel medium access control (MAC-d) flows. An enhanced uplink medium access control (MAC-e) protocol data unit (PDU) is generated using a TFC which is selected from the list of available TFCs. The MAC-e PDU is forwarded to a hybrid-automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) process unit for transmission. The list of available TFCs is continuously updated by eliminating and recovering TFCs based on remaining E-DCH power, an E-DCH transport format combination set (TFCS), a power offset of a highest priority MAC-d flow that has E-DCH data to transmit, and a gain factor for each TFC.

  • Publication number: 20060227640
Abstract: A sensing apparatus having a sensing functionality controller and a method of detecting the sensing apparatus is disclosed. A signal generation unit embedded in the sensing apparatus operates in conjunction with the sensing functionality controller to support the sensing functionality of the sensing unit. The signal generation unit generates one or more sensing functionality support signals used to enhance content obtained by the sensing unit, (e.g., a flash for illuminating a sensed target such that content obtained by the sensing unit is not too dark, or a sound or light-based auto focus signal to make sure that the content is not out of focus). When the sensing functionality controller is activated, the same signal generation unit generates a detectable warning signal, (e.g., sound, light, radio wave), which indicates that the sensing functionality controller has been activated and/or the sensing unit is sensing.

  • Publication number: 20060108671
Abstract: A semiconductor package includes a die that is interposed, flip-chip style, between an upper lead frame and a lower lead frame. The lower lead frame has contacts that are aligned with terminals on the bottom surface of the die. The upper lead frame contacts a terminal on the top side of the die, and the edges of the upper lead frame are bent downward around the edges of the die, giving the upper lead frame a cup shape. The edge of the upper lead frame contact another portion of the lower lead frame, so that all of the contacts of the package are coplanar and can be surface-mounted on a printed circuit board. The terminals of the die are electrically connected to the lead frames by means of solder layers. The thicknesses of the respective solder layers that connect the die to the lead frames are predetermined to optimize the performance of the package through numerous thermal cycles. This is done by fabricating the lower lead frame with a plurality of mesas and using a double solder reflow process.
