  • Patent number: 6277117
Abstract: A removable electrode assembly for use in combination with a forceps having opposing end effectors and a handle for effecting movement of the end effectors relative to one another. The electrode assembly includes a housing which is removably engageable with the forceps and a pair of electrodes which are attachable to a distal end of the housing. The electrodes are removably engageable with the end effectors of the forceps such that the electrodes reside in opposing relation relative to one another. The electrode assembly also includes a cover plate which is removably attachable to the housing and at least one stop member for controlling the distance the electrodes move relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 6145853
Abstract: A skate structure with longitudinally aligned wheels includes an inverted U-shaped frame, in the flanges of which there engage the ends of pivot pins for the wheels. The upper surface of the frame is provided with straps for the removable fixing of an article of footwear. The rear portion of the skate structure has an arm connected by a hinge. The upper element of the arm is provided with an element for securing a user's leg. The arm is pivotal about the axis of the hinge, but is prevented from rotating axially with respect to a longitudinal axis of the frame. During articulation, the arm interacts with an element that includes two inclined surfaces and provides traction for tightening the straps.

  • Patent number: 5719046
Abstract: Plant cells are transformed by:(i) transforming a plant cell whose growth is sensitive to inhibition by a sulfonamide or a salt thereof with a chimaeric gene comprising (a) a plant promoter, (b) a sulfonamide resistance gene having a sequence encoding a transit peptide fused to the 5'-end of the resistance gene and (c) a plant polyadenylation/terminator sequence;(ii) selecting a transformed plant cell whose growth is resistant to inhibition by a sulfonamide or salt thereof;(iii) optionally, regenerating from the transformed plant cell a genetically transformed plant which exhibit the said resistance;(iv) optionally, obtaining seed from the regenerated plant; and(v) optionally, propagating plants from the seed. The growth of weeds can be controlled at a locus where a transgenic plant obtained as above is being cultivated by applying to the locus an effective amount of a herbicide, such as asulam, which acts by inhibiting dihydropteroate synthase.
