  • Publication number: 20230314720
Abstract: Communications systems and methods for communicating data are provided. In one example, the communications system includes an outer ring having an inner surface and an inner ring having an outer surface. The inner surface and the outer surface are separated by a gap that extends around the inner ring to define a loop. A modulating light arrangement receives data and produces modulated light. A first light diffusing optical fiber and a second light diffusing optical fiber are disposed on a first side of the gap and extend in the loop to define an optical data ring. The first light diffusing optical fiber and the second light diffusing optical fiber cooperate to diffuse the modulated light along the optical data ring. A detector is disposed on the second side of the gap and detects the diffuse modulated light.

  • Publication number: 20230311912
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate switching between autonomous and manual driving modes. In order to do so, the vehicle’s computer may conduct a series of environmental, system, and driver checks to identify certain conditions. The computer may correct some of these conditions and also provide a driver with a checklist of tasks for completion. Once the tasks have been completed and the conditions are changed, the computer may allow the driver to switch from the manual to the autonomous driving mode. The computer may also make a determination, under certain conditions, that it would be detrimental to the driver’s safety or comfort to make a switch from the autonomous driving mode to the manual driving mode.

  • Publication number: 20230316009
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for replaying content dialogue in an alternate language in response to a user command. While the content is playing on a media device, a first language in which the content dialogue is spoken is identified. Upon receiving a voice command to repeat a portion of the dialogue, the language in which the command was spoken is identified. The portion of the content dialogue to repeat is identified and translated from the first language to the second language. The translated portion of the content dialogue is then output. In this way, the user can simply ask in their native language for the dialogue to be repeated and the repeated portion of the dialogue is presented in the user's native language.

  • Publication number: 20230318312
Abstract: In one aspect, an apparatus may include a processor and storage accessible to the processor. The storage may include instructions executable by the processor to determine a current state of charge of a battery and to determine a minimum length of time that a device will be powered by the battery to perform one or more tasks without an intervening connection to an external power source. The instructions may then be executable to dynamically determine, based on the current state of charge and the length of time, a first charge rate at which to charge the battery. The instructions may then be executable to charge the battery at the first charge rate prior to a beginning of the length of time. In various examples, the first charge rate may be faster or slower than a normal charge rate for the battery.

  • Publication number: 20230312172
Abstract: A plastic container (1) has a first base and four side walls (13, 14) projecting perpendicularly upwards with a circumferential edge (15) on the upper edge of said walls and a circumferential rib (16) of the lower end of said walls. According to the invention, the container (1) includes a second base (17), which is arranged on the underside of the first base and encloses same. A flat base surface (18, 20) of the second base (17) extends parallel to the first base and beyond the extent of the first base to the extent of the outer ends of the circumferential rib (16) on the side walls (13, 14). A frame (19) on the second base (17) having a circumferential wall (22) extends to the circumferential rib (16) and encloses the lateral edges of the first base. The plastic container (1) can be placed in high-bay warehouses having narrow, rail-like shelves and can be centered and reliably stacked by means of elongate centering elements on the edge (15) and recesses (26) in the second base (17).

  • Publication number: 20230314160
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate generally to identifying and displaying traffic lanes that are available for autonomous driving. This information may be displayed to a driver of a vehicle having an autonomous driving mode, in order to inform the driver of where he or she can use the autonomous driving mode. In one example, the display may visually distinguishing between lanes that are available for auto-drive from those that are not. The display may also include an indicator of the position of a lane (autodrive or not) currently occupied by the vehicle. In addition, if that lane is an autodrive lane the display may include information indicating how much further the vehicle may continue in the autonomous driving mode in that particular lane. The display may also display information indicating the remaining autodrive distance in other lanes as well as the lane with the greatest remaining autodrive distance.

  • Patent number: 11776805
Abstract: Method for selectively oxidizing the dielectric surface of a substrate surface comprising a dielectric surface and a metal surface are discussed. Method for cleaning a substrate surface comprising a dielectric surface and a metal surface are also discussed. The disclosed methods oxidize the dielectric surface and/or clean the substrate surface using a plasma generated from hydrogen gas and oxygen gas. The disclosed method may be performed in a single step without the use of separate competing oxidation and reduction reactions. The disclosed methods may be performed at a constant temperature and/or within a single processing chamber.
