Abstract: The invention disclosed herein relates to novel 1-deoxy-glycopyranosides, preferably 1-deoxy-D-mannopyranosides, having in the 1-position of the pyranoside ring an .omega.-aminoalkylthio, .omega.-aminoalkyloxy or .omega.-aminoalkanoylamino substituent; and to novel processes for preparing these 1-substituted-1-deoxy-glycopyranosides starting with the corresponding tetra-O-acetyl-glycopyranosyl bromide or amine. These .omega.-amino(alkylthio, alkyloxy or alkanoylamino)-1-deoxy-glycopyranosides, and in particular 1-[(6'-aminohexyl)thio or oxy]-1-deoxy-D-mannopyranosides, possess insulin-like activity.

Abstract: A high-strength, cold rolled steel sheet product characterized by a rimmed surface and an aluminum killed, columbium-containing core is produced by hot rolling at a finishing temperature above its Ar.sub.3 temperature and coiling at a temperature between 1000.degree. F. and 1200.degree. F., cold rolling between 50% and 90% reduction, batch annealing to recrystallize the coil, and temper rolling between 0.75% and 2.0% temper elongation. The product is non-aging, has a 50,000 p.s.i. minimum yield strength in the temper rolled condition, good formability, and a surface quality equivalent to that of Drawing Quality Rimmed Steel.

Abstract: A punching and nibbling press with a rotatable turret comprised by an upper and a lower horizontal plate vertically spaced apart, and each formed with housings which in the upper plate receive punch members and in the lower plate receive die members corresponding with the punch members. Each set of housings is arranged in a ring shaped array about the axis of rotation of the turret. The housings are of large, medium and small relative sizes so that large, medium and small punch members can be fitted in the respective housings in the upper plate, and large, medium and small die members in the housings in the lower plate. When at least one of the large punch members is not required and additional small punch members are needed, a large punch member is removed from its housing and is replaced by an intermediate member formed with two small housings to receive two small punch members.

Abstract: A puching press with a very strong main swanneck frame having an upper arm carrying a punching head equipped with an actuating slide, and a lower arm provided with an anvil. A rotary turret is provided with a plurality of punches engageable selectively with the actuating slide by rotation of the turret, and the turret is also provided with a plurality of punching dies each corresponding to a punch and locatable over the anvil by synchronous rotation with the punches. The turret is mounted on a second swanneck frame disposed outside of the slot of the first swanneck frame.
