  • Patent number: 8594614
Abstract: There are disclosed techniques for handling emergency calls in an electronic device, such as a mobile telephone. For example, in one embodiment, upon receipt of a request at the user-interface of the device to terminate an emergency call, the device first requests confirmation that the call should be terminated. In another embodiment, once the emergency call is terminated, if an incoming call request is subsequently received within a predetermined period of time, the device establishes a voice connection with the incoming caller regardless of whether the device is instructed to establish the voice connection. In another embodiment, once the emergency call is terminated, the device remains operable to receive a subsequent incoming call regardless of whether the device is instructed otherwise.

  • Publication number: 20130295927
Abstract: A mobile device operates for communications via a first wireless network with use of a first transceiver. The device performs scanning operations with use of a second transceiver for identifying a set of cell IDs corresponding to a plurality of stations of one or more second wireless networks. The device stores the set of cell IDs in association with an ID of the first wireless network. While operating for communications with use of the second transceiver, the device maintains the first transceiver in a low power state. The device performs scanning operations with use of the second transceiver for identifying a current set of cell IDs, and compares the cell IDs of the current set with cell IDs of the stored set. The device maintains the first transceiver in the low power state or enables its operation based on the comparison.

  • Patent number: 8254985
Abstract: A While a mobile device operates for communications in a WWAN, its WLAN transceiver portion may be maintained in a low power state. During the WWAN operation, the mobile device performs one or more scanning operations with use of a WWAN transceiver portion for identifying a current set of cell site identifications corresponding to a currently-serving base station of the WWAN and one or more neighboring base stations. The mobile device compares cell site identifications of the current set with those in a stored set, and identifies if the, number or percentage of matching cell site identifications of the current and stored sets meets or exceeds a predetermined threshold. If the predetermined threshold is met or exceeded, the mobile device exits the WLAN transceiver portion from the low power state and enables its operation for communications.

Abstract: A method for structural dip removal. The method includes converting a seismic volume to a depth domain, extracting seismic dips from the seismic volume in the depth domain along a borehole trajectory, analyzing a borehole using the seismic dips to obtain structural dip data, and in response to determining that the seismic dips and borehole dips obtained from borehole imagery are consistent, generating a three dimensional (“3D”) structural model using the structural dip data. The method further includes performing a structural restoration using the 3D structural model to obtain depositional geometry data, removing structural dip from the borehole imagery using the 3D structural model to obtain sedimentary dip data, and performing a stratigraphic interpretation using the depositional geometry data and the sedimentary dip data.

  • Patent number: 7908509
Abstract: In a device communicating over a network, a proxy to delay timeout of an application on the device where the proxy is on a communications path between the application and the network, the proxy comprising means for registering a data request from the application to the network; a counter for measuring a predetermined time interval, the time interval selected to prevent timeout at the application; means to send preventative data to the application after the counter has expired but before a response is received; means for modifying a response received from the network to remove preventative data already sent to the application, creating a modified response; and means for forwarding the modified response to the application, wherein the proxy registers that a message has been sent and waits a predetermined interval, and if a response has not been received during that interval sends the preventative data to the application to delay a timeout.

  • Patent number: 7816991
Abstract: A controllable-gain circuit (TI, Rt, TS1, . . . , TS4) provides a first and a second pair of complementary gain-controlled signals (Ip1, Ip3; Ip2, Ip4) in response to an input signal (RFI). In each pair, one gain-controlled signal (Ip1, Ip2) is the input signal amplified with a gain G comprised in a range between a minimum gain Gmin and a maximum gain Gmax. The other gain-controlled signal (Ip3, Ip4) is the input signal amplified with complementary gain Gmax-G. A fixed-gain output circuit (Rfg, Nfg) makes a weighed sum (Ip1*Rfg+Ip3*Rfg) of one and the other gain-controlled signal in the first pair of complementary gain-controlled signals. The respective weighing factors for one and the other gain-controlled signal are substantially similar (Rfg). A controllable-gain output circuit (Rlg, Rhg, Nlg, Nhg) makes a weighed sum (Ip2*Rlg+Ip4*(Rlg+Rhg)) of one and the other gaincontrolled signal in the second pair of complementary gain-controlled signals.
