Patent number: 11951534Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for an event detection system that captures data associated with events while a DC casting system forms an ingot, determines characteristics of the events, and improves the casting system based on the events. Example systems and methods may include initiating a casting operation using one or more pieces of equipment of a casting system including a casting apparatus; capturing sensor data associated with one or more acoustic signals captured relative to the one or more pieces of equipment performing the casting operation; comparing the sensor data with a set of acoustic profiles; determining whether a particular type of event has occurred; causing an adjustment to the casting system or to the casting operation based on whether the particular type of event has occurred; and initiating a second casting operation using the adjusted casting system or casting operation.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2021Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: Novelis Inc.Inventors: John Robert Buster McCallum, Phillip Wilson, Larry Hudson, Richard Shockley, Todd F. Patent number: 11400392Abstract: A filter element (2) is disclosed which comprises a filtration media (4) and an end fitting (6) through which a sealing connection is made between the filter element and a housing (100) so that, when the sealing connection is made, the end fitting defines in part a flow path for fluid between the housing and the filter element. The end fitting includes an annular seal (36?) made from a compressible material which extends around the periphery of the filter element, and a support (30, 31, 32, 34) for the annular seal which can be expanded outwardly to cause the transverse dimension of the seal to increase so that the seal is urged into contact with an inner wall of a housing (100) in which the filter element is located.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2019Date of Patent: August 2, 2022Assignee: Parker Hannifin Manufacturing (UK) Ltd.Inventors: Phillip Robert Core, Jonathan Robert Hughes

Patent number: 10675567Abstract: A filter element assembly comprises a filtration media and an end fitting through which a sealing connection is made between the assembly and a housing so that the end fitting defines a flow path between the housing and the filtration media. The end fitting has first and second parts which can be separated axially, and the filter media extends axially away from the second part in a direction away from the first part. Each of the parts has an outer wall with an external threaded cylindrical surface, and each of the first and second parts has an axially facing edge surface which faces the other of the first and second parts, the facing edge surfaces shaped to define a pre-determined relative rotational alignment of the first and second parts, where the parts fit together so that the threads on the external surfaces of the parts form a continuous thread.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2019Date of Patent: June 9, 2020Assignee: Parker Hannifin Manufacturing (UK) Ltd.Inventors: Phillip Robert Core, Jonathan Hughes

Patent number: 9621587Abstract: A system and method are described herein for standardizing an IT policy that is used to configure devices operating on a network. An IT policy can be generated that applies to a group of users or to one or more special users without having to define and store a new IT policy for each special user. This can be achieved by specifying global and per-user IT policy rules and merging these rules as needed to produce IT policy data.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2014Date of Patent: April 11, 2017Assignee: BlackBerry LimitedInventors: Phillip Roberts, Ronald J.J. Patent number: 9354343Abstract: In seismic survey for icy waters, streamers are towed behind a vessel under the water's surface to avoid ice. GPS readings may not be consistently obtained because the ice prevents a tail buoy with a GPS receiver from trailing from streamer at the surface. Instead, a device tows on the streamer under the water's surface. The streamer's absolute position is tracked by intermittently bringing the towed device toward the surface so GPS readings can be obtained. The streamer's absolute position can then be used in conjunction with compass readings and can correlate various seismic sensor signals obtained along the streamer during the survey. The compass readings can be corrected for declination using declinometer readings, which can be compensated for iron effects from the vessel or other device carrying the declinometer.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2011Date of Patent: May 31, 2016Assignee: ION Geophysical CorporationInventors: Phillip Roberts, Robert Fischer, Noel Zinn, Curt Schneider, Joseph R. Publication number: 20160127310Abstract: An industrial control system provides for a bottom-up configuration and incremental growth in size and complexity without requiring system-specific programming at a central control or display point. XML packets are transmitted from the controllers upon event occurrences and controllers are assigned human meaningful names and group names. By knowing the addressing information for a single controller in a named group of controllers, the identity, addressing and basic status for other members of the group are provided graphically. This can allow operation in a low-bandwidth environment, including LTE cellular communications.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 4, 2015Publication date: May 5, 2016Applicant: CTEK INC.Inventors: Michael James Sutter, Phillip Robert Sutter, Angelo Meneses Lopez
