  • Patent number: 8332906
Abstract: A system and method are described herein for standardizing an IT policy that is used to configure devices operating on a network. An IT policy can be generated that applies to a group of users or to one or more special users without having to define and store a new IT policy for each special user. This can be achieved by specifying global and per-user IT policy rules and merging these rules as needed to produce IT policy data.

  • Publication number: 20120134234
Abstract: In seismic survey for icy waters, streamers are towed behind a vessel under the water's surface to avoid ice. GPS readings may not be consistently obtained because the ice prevents a tail buoy with a GPS receiver from trailing from streamer at the surface. Instead, a device tows on the streamer under the water's surface. The streamer's absolute position is tracked by intermittently bringing the towed device toward the surface so GPS readings can be obtained. The streamer's absolute position can then be used in conjunction with compass readings and can correlate various seismic sensor signals obtained along the streamer during the survey. The compass readings can be corrected for declination using declinometer readings, which can be compensated for iron effects from the vessel or other device carrying the declinometer.

  • Publication number: 20040238692
Abstract: A hot air balloon vent for use with a thermal aircraft or hot air balloon is provided. An aperture associated with the aircraft or balloon is generally adapted to be closed by the vent which includes an operculum of a flexible material that is substantially of parachute form. A control mechanism is provided to effect closure of the aperture by extending the operculum laterally or radially. When so moved, the operculum may be extended to its maximum surface area, at which point it covers and seals the aperture. The control mechanism generally includes conjoined contiguous vent control elements that permit the outer perimeter of the operculum to be pulled away from the perimeter edge of the aperture to variably open the aperture.

  • Publication number: 20030036100
Abstract: The invention provides antibody which can bind to an antigen present in a heme-containing cell and to which a fluorophore with an emission wavelength of between 420 nm and 500 nm is bound. The antibody of the invention can bind to an antigen of interest in a heme-containing cell and, due to the fluorophore, the binding interaction can be visualized. This facilitates the use of fluorescent labels for immunophenotyping of red blood cells and, in particular, fetal red blood cells within a blood sample from a pregnant female. It also facilitates simultaneous use of immunophenotyping and fluorescence-based nucleic acid analytical techniques such as FISH. Genotype and phenotype can be detected at the same time.

  • Patent number: 6261189
Abstract: A technique for monitoring a golf swing, human movement in other sports, and other activities involving human movement and for teaching and reinforcing desired human movement. A golf swing is monitored for a golfer swinging a golf club through a tee area while standing on a platform housing a tee manipulation mechanism. Six or more infrared (IR) transmitters transmit respective IR beams along predetermined lines in close proximity to the tee area. Each predetermined line defines a portion of three-dimensional space critical to the optimization of the golf swing. Respective IR sensors receive the respective IR beams. Each pair of IR sensors provides a respective output signal indicative of improper club shaft or body positioning. This device is designed to monitor club shaft and body position and alert the golfer to undesirable positioning via audible buzzer, signal lights, and a golf ball removal system.
