  • Publication number: 20070274685
Abstract: The present invention provides for a system and method of wirelessly triggering portable devices to provide a user with audio and/or visual information related to a show or attraction, for example, or for the purposes of captioning, language translation, assistive listening, and descriptive audio. As a person moves about a venue, a portable device receives signals from transmitters at venue locations. Transmissions may be via infrared or radio signals. The receiving device decodes each signal as a venue location, event time, or device trigger. The receiving device processes the signal and its memory to start a presentation on the device. The portable device memory contains audio, text, graphics, and/or visual content; device playback may contain one or many of these stored contents. The stored content may be synchronized with the user's location, time of travel, time of day, time of a show, or an event in a show. Stored content may be in one or many languages.

  • Publication number: 20050269442
Abstract: An apparatus for sealing and illuminating a balloon includes a housing for sealing insertion into a neck of a balloon. A flow path within the housing conducts an inflation gas from an inlet to an outlet of the housing, and a flow control system disposed in the flow path allows the inflation gas to flow from the inlet to the outlet. The apparatus includes a light source mounted in conjunction with the housing and a power source disposed within the housing providing power for the light source. A switch mounted in conjunction with the housing is operable to selectively connect the power source to the light source by completing a circuit between the power source and the light source. The apparatus also includes a switch activating member annularly disposable around the housing to operate the switch.

  • Publication number: 20050224169
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of decorative coatings, comprising the following steps: A) providing a substrate to be coated and a backing film coated on one side with an uncured or only partially cured coating of a coating composition curable by means of high-energy radiation, B) forming zones on the backing film which are opaque to high-energy radiation and correspond to the negative image of a desired pattern or decoration, C) applying the coated side of the backing film having the uncured or only partially cured coating of a coating composition curable by means of high-energy radiation with the coated side thereof onto a substrate surface, D) curing the coating applied by the backing film by irradiation with high-energy radiation through the backing film, E) removing the backing film from the coating which remains on the substrate, and F) removing the un-irradiated and thus uncured parts of the coating remaining on the substrate to obtain the desired pattern or decoration.

  • Publication number: 20050065834
Abstract: Processing passengers for departure from an airport comprises a first line for passengers to be processed through a control point on the basis of first-in first-out. There is a second line for passengers to be processed on a non first-in first-out basis. The availability for the second line is determined by at least one of the following characteristics, namely the status of the passenger relative to an airline class of service; delays in flight times of one or more flights using the airport; cancellations of other flights using the airport; security factors at the airport; staffing at the airport; calendar date of flight, time of day of flight; number of passengers for the flight; numbers of passengers for other flights; and baggage handling. The system also processes passengers for arrival at an airport. The system also processes passengers for arrival at an airport so as facilitate baggage handling.

  • Publication number: 20040236962
Abstract: An end-to-end secure web-based information system is disclosed. The system uses an information server to obtain information from at least one information source. The information is organized into information pages by a page server. A cryptographic engine provides encryption and decryption capabilities for information page addresses corresponding to the hyperlinks on the information pages served by the page server. The information pages are transmitted to client browsers using an encrypted communications protocol, hence the page contents are encrypted during transmission. This system is compatible with client browsers without any additional software or plug-in on the client side. The system is end-to-end secure because both the information page contents and the page addresses are encrypted during transmission.

  • Publication number: 20030217259
Abstract: An end-to-end secure web-based email system is disclosed. The system uses a non-transient cryptographic engine and a web browser on the client side, which communicates with a server from the service provider. The server provides standard web-based email functions, whereas the non-transient cryptographic engine provides security functions including encryption, decryption, signature addition and verification. The non-transient cryptographic engine works with the web browser on the client side where the web browser acts as the user interface to the non-transient cryptographic engine. The non-transient cryptographic engine also provides a range of key management functions on the client side. The system is end-to-end secure because all the security functions are executed on the client side. The system has a graceful degradation property in that if a user does not carry the non-transient cryptographic engine, the user can still send and receive normal unsecured email service.

  • Patent number: 6044771
Abstract: A transition section for a railway hopper car carries structural loads from an endmost hopper of the hopper car into the hopper car end structure, whence the loads are transferred to and from other cars via the coupler, and into the rail car truck. The sidewall of the endmost hopper has an extension that mates smoothly with a curved flange extending from the hopper end structure, such that the transition varies smoothly in section.

  • Patent number: 5783992
Abstract: A battery powered sensor in a tire has a microprocessor and a transmitter circuit permanently connected to a battery and a pressure switch or pressure sensor coupled to the microprocessor. The microprocessor has a sleep state and wakes up every few minutes to execute an algorithm which determines on a time basis whether to read the pressure state and transmit a report of significant changes, and determines on a randomly timed basis whether to transmit a status report. A factory test state permits only one signal transmission when the tire is inflated and inhibits other signals for a period to allow testing of many tires without interference from one another.
