  • Publication number: 20140216758
Abstract: A method includes running an assembly on a tool in a contracted state into a well. The assembly includes segments that are adapted to be radially contracted and arranged in a first number of layers along a longitudinal axis of the assembly in the contracted state of the assembly. The technique includes using the tool to expand the assembly downhole in the well to transition the assembly between the contracted state and an expanded state. Using the tool to expand the seat assembly includes radially expanding the segments and longitudinally contracting the segments to arrange the layers in a second number of layers having at least one layer less than the first number.

  • Publication number: 20130319669
Abstract: A system is provided that is conducive to multi-stage stimulation in a near-continuous fashion. That is, unlike conventional stimulation systems, embodiments herein may operate without the requirement of traditional plug-setting, perforating and fracturing interventions on a zone by zone basis for a cemented completion. Rather, the system is outfitted with frac sleeves that may be shifted open to expose the bore to the formation while simultaneously achieving a seal through a ball drop technique. Once more, this manner of operation is rendered practical by the sleeve being of a passable configuration such that cementing of the casing is not impeded.

  • Publication number: 20130105141
Abstract: This stuffing box (46) defines a circulation passage (66) of a cable working line (28), a packer (70), and a back-pressure resistant valve (74). The passage (66) extends between an upstream end (62) of the stuffing box (46), intended to be connected to a well, and a downstream end (64). The back-pressure resistant valve (74) is arranged in the passage (66) to prevent, in case of break of the line (28), the back-pressure of a fluid from the upstream end (62) towards the downstream end (64). The or each packer (70) is situated between the upstream end (62) of the stuffing box (46) and the back-pressure resistant valve (74). No packer (70) is arranged between the back-pressure resistant valve (74) and the downstream end (64).

  • Patent number: 5841984
Abstract: A method of assigning transaction identifiers assigns an identifier that is unique to each transaction, each transaction operating on data distributed across various stations. The method determines a first field of the identifier, having either a temporary value identifiable as such and unique to the station executing the application process that requested opening of the transaction if opening of the transaction is requested during an initialization phase or a value assigned by a first manager process specific to the station executing the requesting application process if opening of the transaction is requested after the initialization phase. The method also determines a second field having either a temporary value identifiable as such and unique to the set of stations if the opening of the transaction is requested during the initialization phase or a value assigned by a second manager process common to the set of stations if opening of the transaction is requested after the initialization phase.

  • Patent number: 4151836
Abstract: These components comprise a reference frame (3) and a mobile frame (4) mounted slidingly in the plane of the reference frame. After placing electrode E and, consequently, electrode M, which are carried by telescopic arms fixed to the reference frame, the mobile frame is moved in order to place electrodes A and I, fixed to the latter. The correct ratio of distances OE and OM is obtained by reading a fixed scale (37) integral with the reference frame and a mobile scale (45) cooperating with a needle (49) integral with the mobile frame. The mobile scale is articulated (at 451) on a lever mounted pivotally on the reference frame at one end (461) and whose other end bears against a reference backrest (1).
