  • Publication number: 20070106298
Abstract: The invention concerns an intervertebral implant that includes a spacer designed firstly to assume an implantation shape in which the spacer has two opposed channels (3, 4) bordered by retaining wings (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b), intended to receive the two spinous processes of two vertebrae, and secondly an insertion shape in which the parts of the implant forming the channels (3, 4) are separated by a value (d), and on at least one of their sides are lacking the retaining wings (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b), characterised in that the implant (1) is made from a shape-memory material, so that the implant changes to its implantation shape when it is subjected to heat, and so that, in this implantation shape, the parts of the implant forming the channels (3, 4) are separated by a value (D) that is greater than the value(d) of the insertion shape, in order to ensure the separation of the spinous processes.

  • Publication number: 20070106793
Abstract: The system comprises an improved document monitoring agent in which user evaluations are used to decide whether a changed document should be saved in the system or not. The evaluation of importance of the change in a document is performed by one or more users who collaboratively monitor a networked document, typically identified by a URL. By providing a user evaluation interface, it is possible for users to indicate their evaluation of the significance of the change. As such, only significantly changed documents, as indicated by the users themselves, are saved. Thus, a more efficient saving is obtained while at the same time reducing the risk of discarding potentially interesting changed documents which would have been discarded by conventional monitoring agents.

  • Patent number: 6956994
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a FBG having improved performances and an annealing-trimming apparatus for making the same are provided. The trimming and the annealing steps are advantageously combined into a single process in order to efficiently fabricate complex FBG filters with improved performance. The method comprises the steps of UV-writing a FBG in an optical fiber prior to annealing-trimming characteristics of the FBG by performing the sub-steps of monitoring characteristic data of the FBG while generating a controlled complex temperature profile along the FBG with a heating means according to the characteristic data for providing an accurate controlled annealing process of the FBG, thereby providing an accurate trimming thereof.

  • Publication number: 20050125029
Abstract: The invention relates to an intersomatic implant designed to be inserted in the disk space defined between two adjacent vertebrae, namely an overlying vertebra and an underlying vertebra, for the purpose of reestablishing the anatomic space between the vertebrae, the implant being in the form of a cage (1) that is generally in the shape of a rectangular block having at least two sagittal walls (2, 3) interconnected at least by an anterior transverse wall (4) and by a posterior transverse wall (5), the walls (2 to 5) presenting rims (10) extending on one surface to define a first transverse face (8) and on the other side to define a second transverse face (9). According to the invention, the implant comprises: a first transverse face (8) presenting in the sagittal plane a convex profile congruent with the sagittal anatomic profile of an overlying vertebra; and a second transverse face presenting in the frontal plane a convex profile congruent with the frontal anatomic profile of an overlying vertebra.
