  • Patent number: 10628150
Abstract: A method for updating firmware in a wireless charger is implemented when the wireless charger charges a chargeable device. A wireless link is established between the charger and the chargeable device for transferring energy from the charger to the chargeable device. The wireless link also is used to transfer a new version of a firmware program running on the charger, from the chargeable device to the charger. The wireless charger can detect interruption in reception of the new version of the firmware program and identify a breakpoint where the data transfer was interrupted. The wireless charger can resume reception of the firmware program from the breakpoint when the wireless link is re-established. The firmware update can be initiated by an app on the chargeable device.

  • Publication number: 20190226615
Abstract: A joint is devised for connection to an internal tube of a longitudinally extensible hose. The joint includes a sleeve and a tubular insert. The sleeve includes an axial channel for receiving the internal tube. The axial channel includes a diameter-wise smaller section and a diameter-wise larger section. The tubular insert is inserted in the internal tube so that the tubular insert and the sleeve clamp the internal tube. The tubular insert includes an axial passageway, an annular bulge and an annular flange. The axial passageway extends coaxially with the axial channel. The annular bulge is formed on a middle section of the tubular insert and adapted for pressing the internal tube against an wall of the diameter-wise larger section of the axial channel. The annular flange is formed at an end of the tubular insert and adapted for contact with an end of the sleeve.

  • Publication number: 20190181692
Abstract: In a wireless charging system, a power-transmitting node (TX) has a transmitter for transmitting power wirelessly to a power-receiving node (RX), and a signal receiver for receiving signals from the RX. During a power-transfer session, the TX accumulates data corresponding to its transmitted power level, detects an end of a received power (RP) packet from the RX, and then identifies a subset of the accumulated data. The TX calculates its transmitted power level using the subset of the accumulated data. The TX extracts a received power level of the RX from the received RP packet and compares its calculated transmitted power level with the RX's received power level to determine a presence of a foreign object. Accuracy of FO detection when packets from the RX are not properly received by the TX is improved.

  • Publication number: 20190165618
Abstract: In a wireless charging system, a power-transmitting node (TX), has a processor, a memory, a power transmitter for transmitting power wirelessly to a power-receiving node (RX), and a signal receiver for receiving signals from the RX. After the processor detects the presence of a foreign object (FO) during a power-transfer session, the processor places the TX in a protection state. The processor detects whether the FO has been removed using quality factor (QF) values for the TX that the processor measures before and after detecting the presence of the FO, and without requiring any QF values calibrated off-line. The QF values include a QF value measured before the FO is present, a QF value measured just after the TX enters the protection state, and a current QF value that is repeatedly updated as long as the TX remains in the protection state.

  • Patent number: 9966803
Abstract: A wireless charging system has a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter has (i) a TX coil that wirelessly transfers power to the receiver and (ii) TX circuitry that powers the TX coil and detects receiver removal by comparing TX input power and TX power loss. The TX circuitry can determine (1) TX input power as the product of sampled TX input current and voltage and (2) TX power loss using a mapping based on sampled TX coil current. When the receiver is present, the difference between TX input power and TX power loss has a first value and when the receiver is removed, the difference has a second, lesser value. The transmitter detects removal of the receiver by determining when the difference decreases below a specified threshold level. By frequently generating and analyzing the difference, the transmitter can quickly detect receiver removal and safely power down the TX coil.
