  • Publication number: 20140313872
Abstract: A heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) head in which the core of the optical waveguide has an end face that abuts the NFT and the write pole lip has a diffusion barrier between the end face of the waveguide core and the write pole lip. The diffusion barrier layer may also be located between the waveguide core end face and the NFT, in which case it is formed of an optically transparent material, like TaNx, TiNx, ZrNx, HfNX, NbNx, CrNx, VNx, TiC, TaC, WC, SiC or SiNx, or a layer of Au, Ru, Rh or Ir with a thickness less than 5 nm. In addition to being located between both the NFT and the write pole lip and the waveguide core end face, the diffusion barrier layer may also be located between the waveguide core and the lower waveguide cladding layer.

  • Patent number: 8429082
Abstract: Example embodiments herein include a license manager process that receives a license query from a server device. The license query requests usage data associated with a permanent license on a client device. In response to receiving the license query, the license manager procures the usage data associated with the permanent license on the client device. The license manager then transmits the usage data associated with the permanent license to the server device. Furthermore, the license manager receives a revocation request from the server device. In this manner, the revocation request is received in response to transmitting the usage data associated with the permanent license to the server device. In turn, the license manager revokes the permanent license that was indicated in the revocation request to disable use of the respective application on the client device.

  • Patent number: 8252437
Abstract: A magnetic recording disk has surface features of elevated lands and recessed grooves, and a planarized upper surface. A chemical-mechanical-polishing (CMP) stop layer is deposited over the lands and into the recesses. An adhesion film, like silicon, is deposited over the CMP stop layer, and fill material containing a silicon oxide (SiOx) is deposited over and in contact with the adhesion film. The adhesion film improves the adhesion of the SiOx fill material and prevents delamination during a subsequent two-step CMP planarizing process.

The method can include reforming a hydrocarbon in a first reaction zone in the presence of one or more first catalysts and steam at conditions sufficient to produce an effluent comprising a portion of the hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen. The effluent can be reformed in a second reaction zone in the presence of one or more second catalysts and nitrogen at conditions sufficient to produce a syngas comprising methane, hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide, or any combination thereof. At least a portion of the nitrogen and hydrogen in the syngas can be converted to ammonia to produce an ammonia effluent. The ammonia effluent can be separated to produce an ammonia product and a purge gas comprising nitrogen. • Publication number: 20090283747
Abstract: A light emitting diode having a metallized silicon substrate including a silicon base, a buffer layer disposed on the silicon base, a metal layer disposed on the buffer layer, and light emitting layers disposed on the metal layer. The buffer layer can be AlN, and the metal layer ZrN. The light emitting layers can include GaN and InGaN. The metallized silicon substrate can also include an oxidation prevention layer disposed on the metal layer. The oxidation prevention layer can be AlN. The light emitting diode can be formed using an organometallic vapor phase epitaxy process. The intermediate ZrN/AlN layers enable epitaxial growth of GaN on silicon substrates using conventional organometallic vapor phase epitaxy. The ZrN layer provides an integral back reflector, ohmic contact to n-GaN. The AlN layer provides a reaction barrier, thermally conductive interface layer, and electrical isolation layer.

  • Publication number: 20090240584
Abstract: The present invention provides a cash deposit auction method and system, whereby upon payment of a fee, a seller uploads details of his business where so desired along with those of the assets, goods and services intended to be sold onto the auction system web-site provided by the manager of auction system. A specified amount of cash from the pool created from the fees paid by the sellers is auctioned. Many buyers make bids for the cash deposit by haggling the price up or down depending on the type of auction they are participating in The cash deposit won in the auction can only be used by the successful bidder to purchase from the seller advertising his business or sale information of any assets, goods and services on the website.

  • Publication number: 20080086407
Abstract: The present invention provides a reverse auction method and system, whereby upon payment of a fee, a seller uploads details of the property to be auctioned onto the auction system web-site provided by the manager of auction system. The system utilizes the information provided to set the necessary parameters of the auction. Many buyers make bids by haggling the price down and a must make an online payment per bid submitted, and the winner is a buyer who makes a lowest “unique” bid when the auction is concluded. All money paid into the system for bid submissions is held in a common pool to make up the difference in winning bid paid and property value. The bid-winner is satisfied by buying the property at a low price, the seller gets full value for his property and the auction system manager is compensated by the seller listing fees and possibly a fractional retention of interest in the property sold.

  • Patent number: 6818198
Abstract: Recycling a portion of autothermal reformer effluent into the steam-hydrocarbon feed stream with a thermo-compressor ejector is disclosed, using the preheated feed mixture as motive fluid. Syngas recycle-motive fluid molar ratios are 0.2-1.0, selected to optimize the overall configuration. The recycle introduces hydrogen and steam into the feed, and elevates the feed temperature, for operating the reformer in a soot-free regime. There is some pressure drop between the raw feed steam-natural gas mixture and the reformer feed, which requires the raw feed mixture to be supplied at a higher pressure, but this is offset by the lower pressure drop in the process heater and other upstream and downstream equipment due to lower quantities of steam. The feed pre-heater can have a lower duty, and the upstream and downstream equipment can be reduced in size, while the size of the autothermal reformer is about the same compared to the size needed for operation without effluent recycle.
