  • Publication number: 20230030951
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, an indication that indicates whether a common search space (CSS) is associated with a first type of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) or a second type of PDCCH. The first type of PDCCH may correspond to a cell-broadcast PDCCH and the second type of PDCCH may correspond to a UE-specific PDCCH. The CSS may be for downlink control information (DCI) with a cyclic redundancy check scrambled by a group radio network temporary identifier (G-RNTI) that schedules a multicast and broadcast service (MBS). The UE may receive, from the base station, the first type of PDCCH or the second type of PDCCH. Numerous other aspects are described.

  • Publication number: 20230027425
Abstract: Aspects described herein relate to communicating with one or more cells for receiving a multicast and/or broadcast service (MBS), and providing MBS continuity in device mobility scenarios. In an aspect, one or more cells for reselection from a current cell can be detected, where the current cell supports a UE interested MBS. The one or more cells can be evaluated for reselection based at least in part on whether the one or more cells support the UE interested MBS to determine a target cell for reselection. Cell reselection can be performed to the target cell.

  • Publication number: 20230023161
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, control signaling that indicates one or more parameters pertaining to reception of paging early indications (PEIs). The UE may receive a PEI from the base station in accordance with the one or more parameters. The UE may determine, based on the PEI, whether the UE is scheduled to receive a multicast paging message from the base station in a subsequent paging occasion (PO). If the UE is scheduled to receive a multicast paging message, the UE may monitor for the multicast paging message in the subsequent PO. Otherwise, the UE may enter a low-power state during the subsequent PO, which may result in greater power savings at the UE. Aspects of the present disclosure may provide for improved multicast paging operations between the UE and the base station.

  • Patent number: 11564141
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications, and more particularly, to performing a handover on a per-data radio bearer (DRB) basis. In some examples, the disclosure is directed to indicating, to a source network entity, a make-before-break (MBB) handover capability of the UE, the MBB handover capability supporting MBB handovers for one or more DRBs identified by the source network entity. In some examples, the disclosure describes receiving, from the source network entity, configuration information for a handover from the source network entity to a target network entity, the configuration information identifying the one or more DRBs supported for the MBB handover.

  • Publication number: 20230018140
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which paging messages may provide an indication of a service that caused the page, and a receiving user equipment (UE) may determine a paging response based on a UE status and the service that caused the page. The paging response may include ignoring the page, a paging response with a busy indication, or a paging response after a time delay, for example. The paging message may be received at an access stratum (AS) layer of the UE, and the AS layer may provide the paging message to a non-access stratum (NAS) layer along with the indication of the service that caused the page. The NAS layer may determine the paging response.

  • Patent number: 11546950
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may truncate or remove a number of bits from its UE identity based on identity truncating information to generate a truncated UE identity. The truncated UE identity can be transmitted by eMTC devices to a base station in an RRC connection request, and can be used by the base station to determine which core network entity stores the UE's capabilities. In some implementations, the UE may truncate or remove a number of bits from the 48-bit 5G-S-TMSI based on the identity truncating information to generate a 40-bit truncated 5G-S-TMSI that can be transmitted by an eMTC device to the base station in the RRC connection request and yet still provide the base station with enough information to determine which AMF stores the UE context.

  • Patent number: 11522657
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A set of reference signal resources that are configured for sounding reference signal transmissions may be shared among user equipments (UEs) that are enabled to receive multicast communications. Each of the shared set of reference signal resources may be associated with set(s) of channel state information. UEs may measure a multicast channel to determine channel state information for the multicast channel and transmit sounding reference signals over one of the shared reference signal resources that is associated with the set of channel state information determined by the UE. A base station that receives the sounding reference signal may transmit a subsequent multicast transmission for the UEs using transmission parameters that are adapted for the set(s) of channel state information associated with the occupied sounding reference signal resource.

  • Publication number: 20220369285
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a user equipment (UE) may support both unicast and multicast downlink signaling, such as on a single component carrier (CC). A UE may receive a unicast message over a first CC during a transmission time interval (TTI) using a first set of processing resources. The UE may simultaneously receive a multicast message over the first CC during the same TTI using a second set of processing resources. The first and second sets of processing resources may be associated with first and second hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) soft buffers, first and second CCs, or first and second transmit/receive points (TRPs).

  • Publication number: 20220360947
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a first base station and a second base station may be neighbor base stations and the first base station may receive, from the second base station, information relating to a multicast-broadcast services (MBS) session context of an MBS session supported by the second base station. The first base station may use the received MBS session context information to control communication or connections between the first base station and one or more user equipment (UEs) that are served by the first base station. For example, the first base station may use the received MBS session context information for target cell selection in a handover procedure, an MBS-specific measurement configuration, interference avoidance, or system information block (SIB) construction, among various other use cases.

  • Patent number: 11496966
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may communicate with a user equipment (UE) or multiple UEs using multicast transmissions, and each of the multiple UEs may use shared resources to transmit feedback. A UE may receive a power control configuration associated with multicast communications and indicating one or more control parameters or weighting factors for uplink feedback. The UE may monitor a set of downlink resources for the multicast message from the base station, and may determine a decoding failure for the multicast message. The UE may determine whether to transmit uplink feedback to the base station based on the received power control parameters, such as adjusting UE transmit power using a weighting factor or other power control parameters. The UE may determine whether to transmit the uplink feedback message indicating the decoding failure based on the power control configuration.
