  • Patent number: 11452165
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for configuring discontinuous reception (DRX) cycles within a DRX time period at a user equipment (UE). DRX configurations may provide that different DRX cycles have non-uniform cycle durations within the DRX time period. Such non-uniform cycle durations may provide DRX ON-durations that are aligned with a periodicity of downlink traffic to the UE in which the downlink traffic may be unaligned with timing boundaries used for wireless communications between the UE and a base station, such as slot boundaries or symbol boundaries.

  • Publication number: 20220232605
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for user equipment (UE) indication of uplink scheduling information to a base station. The uplink scheduling information may provide information on a periodic traffic pattern, such as for periodic extended reality (XR) data flows. The uplink scheduling information may provide uplink assistance information (UAI) to a base station to assist the base station with providing uplink resources that efficiently serve an XR session. The UAI may indicate one or more of a periodicity of uplink traffic, an offset between uplink traffic and a packet arrival, a data size for uplink traffic for each time period associated with the XR session, a request to enable uplink transmission skipping, or any combinations thereof. A base station may provide one or more dynamic grants, configured grants, or proactive grants to a UE based on the uplink scheduling information.

  • Publication number: 20220167358
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently performing measurements and other functions in preparation for communicating with a base station on a secondary cell (SCell). In particular, a user equipment (UE) may switch to a certain bandwidth part (BWP) (e.g., a dormant BWP) on an SCell when the SCell is deactivated, and the UE may perform the appropriate measurements and functions on this BWP (e.g., based on reference signals received on this BWP). In some cases, the UE may determine to switch to the BWP for performing the appropriate measurements and functions based on an inactivity timer expiring or based on an indication from a base station (e.g., on a primary cell (PCell)). Accordingly, once the UE activates the SCell for communications with a base station, the latency associated with preparing for communicating on the SCell may be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20220078811
Abstract: Wireless communication devices, systems, and methods related to mechanisms to implement improved interference tracking over time. A BS may transmit information to a UE that allows the UE to quantize channel measurements into interference states. The UE may transmit an interference change report as triggered by an event, such as an interference metric exceeding a threshold after quantizing into the interference states. This enables the system to capture and respond to abrupt changes. Further, the interference change report may include historic interference information. The UE may include statistics based on the historic interference information. The UE may further be triggered to transmit an interference change report in response to a BS requesting it, or in response to a configured period of time elapsing. The UE may further include MCS information predicted for one or more future time periods based on historic information, which the BS may use in scheduling.

  • Patent number: 11251931
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for limiting a number of active beams available for communications between a user equipment (UE) and a base station (e.g., to limit the complexity at the UE). In one example, transmission configuration indication (TCI) states may correspond to active beams available for downlink reception that are identified based on configured quasi co-location (QCL) relationships and active QCL assumptions (i.e., the TCI states may include configured QCL relationships and QCL assumptions). Because the TCI states may include configured QCL relationships and active QCL assumptions, the number of active beams available for communications between a UE and a base station may be limited by the number of active TCI states (e.g., where the number of active TCI states may be determined based on a UE capability).

  • Patent number: 11228487
Abstract: In an access network, a base station may aggregate data packets for a user equipment (UE) into transport blocks and configure a control channel to allow the UE to sleep between control channel monitoring occasions to save power. Such data aggregation, however, may be subject to changes in traffic load and/or link quality that may result in a too low data rate or too frequent monitoring. A base station that receives data to transmit to the UE and aggregates the data according to configured control configuration parameters of the UE may determine that a link quality or a traffic load for the UE has changed. The base station may reconfigure the control channel configuration parameters of the UE based on at least one of the link quality or the traffic load in order to obtain a data rate that satisfy the traffic load for the UE.
