  • Publication number: 20230388007
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided, in which a service link path delay relative to a first leg of a communication path of a communication between the user equipment and a network entity via a relay entity is estimated (602), where the first leg corresponds to a portion of the communication path between the user equipment and the relay entity. A feeder link path delay relative to a second leg of the communication path is determined (604), where the second leg corresponds to a portion of the communication path between the relay entity and the network entity, based upon at least a received signaling indication. A timing advance value is calculated (606), based upon the service link path delay and the feeder link path delay. • Patent number: 11831558
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for efficiently discarding data packets destined to a mobile station connected to both a master base station and a secondary base station. The master base station configures a secondary discard function in a lower layer of the secondary base station, based on the master discard function in the higher layer of the master base station. The master base station forwards the data packet from the higher layer to the lower of the secondary base station. The secondary discard function of the lower layer at the secondary base station discards the received data packet upon expiry of the secondary timer started by the lower layer upon reception of the data packet from the higher layer at the master base station.

  • Publication number: 20230379357
Abstract: The disclosure relates to methods for establishing a secure communication link between a mobile station and a secondary base station in a mobile communication system. The disclosure is also providing mobile communication system for performing these methods, and computer readable media the instructions of which cause the mobile communication system to perform the methods described herein. Specifically, the disclosure suggests that in response to the detected or signaled potential security breach, the master base station increments a freshness counter for re-initializing the communication between the mobile station and the secondary base station; and the mobile station and the secondary base station re-initialize the communication there between. The re-initialization is performed under the control of the master base station and further includes deriving a same security key based on said incremented freshness counter, and establishing the secure communication link utilizing the same, derived security key.

  • Publication number: 20230379102
Abstract: The invention relates to a transmitting device for performing an initial and one or more retransmissions of data via a sidelink interface. A receiver and processor perform a resource sensing procedure to acquire information about radio resources usable for the device to transmit data at a later point in time. The processor performs an autonomous radio resource allocation to select time-frequency radio resources within a transmission window to be used for performing a first transmission of the data, based on information acquired by the resource sensing procedure. The processor determines a data transmission timing pattern, that indicates a transmission timing for performing one or more transmissions of data. A transmitter performs the first data transmission using the selected time-frequency radio resources and performs the data retransmissions at the transmission timing defined by the determined data transmission timing pattern with respect to the first data transmission.

  • Patent number: 11825508
Abstract: The invention relates to methods for improving a scheduling request transmission between a UE and a base station. The transmission of the scheduling request is postponed, by implementing a threshold that the data in the transmission buffer has to reach, before a transmission of the scheduling request is triggered. In one variant, the data in the transmission buffer needs to reach a specific amount, to trigger a scheduling request. The invention refers to further improvements: the PDDCH monitoring time window is delayed after sending a scheduling request; the dedicated scheduling request resources of the PUCCH are prioritized differently such that low-priority scheduling requests are transmitted less often.

  • Publication number: 20230361974
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting a periodic channel quality report (CSI) and/or a sounding reference symbol (SRS) from a UE to an eNodeB. To avoid double decoding at the eNodeB in transient phases, a deterministic behavior of the UE is defined by the invention, according to which the eNodeB can unambiguously determine whether the UE will transmit the CSI/SRS or not. According to one embodiment, the UL grants and/or DL assignments received until and including subframe N-4 only are considered; UL grants and/or DL assignments received by the UE after subframe N-4 are discarded for the determination. Additionally, DRX-related timers at subframe N-4 are considered for the determination. In a second embodiment, DRX MAC control elements from the eNodeB, instructing the UE to enter DRX, i.e., become Non-Active, are only considered for the determination if they are received before subframe N-4, i.e., until and including subframe N-(4+k).

  • Patent number: 11800471
Abstract: The present invention relates to selection of synchronization source among various synchronization sources which include sources determining the synchronization signal from the network such as base stations (network nodes) or user equipments which receive the synchronization signal possibly over other hops from the base station, and which further includes sources which do not determine their synchronization signal from the network. The selection of the synchronization source is performed by choosing the source with the most reliable synchronization signal based on a metric calculated for each of the sources considered. In particular, the metric is based on the type of the source, number of hops between the network and the source and/or received signal quality. After selecting the source, the timing of the device is adapted accordingly.
