A tile compression/decompression module generates compressed video frame data for storage in a compressed video frame buffer by compressing the plurality of video span units into a plurality of compressed video span units and further that retrieves the compressed video frame data from the compressed video frame buffer by retrieving the plurality of compressed video span units and generating the uncompressed video frame data by decompressing the plurality of compressed video span units.

    Abstract: Geographic atrophy of the eye can be detected and measured by imaging the eye at a depth greater than the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) at a plurality of locations of the eye, for example, using optical coherence tomography (OCT); determining a ratio of the intensities of imaging signals of a retinal layer(s) with respect to the intensity of imaging signals of a sub-RPE layer(s) at each location; determining representative values based at least in part on the determined ratios; generating a map of the representative values; and identifying diseased areas from the map. Contours and binary maps may be generated based on the identified diseased areas. The size and shape of the identified areas may be analyzed and monitored over a period of time to phenotype subjects and classify diseases.

With the wavelength selective switch and the wavelength selection method, a polarization-independent phase modulation can be realized without a depolarization device disposed in an optical path, which thereby simplifies an optical path, reduces an insertion loss, and lowers costs of the wavelength selective switch and even the entire optical communication system.

    Abstract: An endoscopic surgical cutting stapler with a chain articulation is provided, in which a joint is implemented by a chain articulation, teeth are provided at two ends of a chain plate of the chain articulation, and teeth of adjacent chain plates in the same row are engaged. Through mesh transmission of engaged teeth of the adjacent chain plates in the same row, an angle of a most proximal chain plate of the chain articulation is gradually multiplied at several stages and transmitted to an end effector. The end effector can rotate for 90° with small drive motion of the operating mechanism, thereby achieving precise placement of the chain articulation after rotation. The end effector can be precisely aligned with a part to be cut and stapled, and a radius of curvature of the chain articulation can be significantly increased.
