    Abstract: The techniques and systems herein enable ESA modification based on manual steering inputs. Specifically, a score is determined for a manual steering input to a host vehicle while an ESA is actively applying an ESA steering input to the host vehicle. The score quantifies an amount of additional steering input relative to the ESA steering input (e.g. additional steering angle, steering wheel torque). The ESA steering input is maintained, modified, or canceled based on the score. By doing so, the system is able to effectively adapt the ESA to the manual steering inputs thereby allowing for effective collision mitigation while ensuring that the vehicles operate as intended by the drivers.

    Abstract: Provided are a precursor solution, and a modified layer and a lithium-based battery prepared by using the same. The modified layer is formed on the negative electrode, the positive electrode and/or the separator of the lithium-based battery by using the precursor solution through photo-polymerization reaction or thermal curing. The lithium-based battery comprising the modified layer effectively promotes the charge and discharge capability, cycling life, and safety. The modified layer can be applied to a roll-to-roll process. The formation of lithium dendrites in the lithium-based battery comprising the modified layer is significantly suppressed or reduced during the charge-discharge cycles. The shuttle effect is effectively suppressed or reduced in lithium sulfur batteries and lithium iodine batteries. All the above effects are beneficial to increasing the product value of lithium ion batteries, lithium metal batteries, anode-free lithium batteries, lithium sulfur batteries, and lithium iodine batteries.

    Abstract: This document describes motion planning with variable grid resolution for graph-search-based planning. An example system includes a processor that obtains an initial pose, a goal pose, and an obstacle map for an environment. The processor uses a motion-planning algorithm to determine a path or trajectory using two or more grid resolutions for a graph-based search. The path includes a series of waypoints, including two-dimensional positional coordinates (and time coordinates if a trajectory), to navigate from the initial pose towards the goal pose. Operation of the host vehicle is then controlled to maneuver along the path using an assisted-driving or autonomous-driving system. In this way, motion planning is performed for the entire path but uses a coarser grid resolution for the portion nearer the goal pose. This allows motion planning for autonomous parking, especially in environments that include static and dynamic objects, to be handled in a more computationally-efficient manner.
