    Abstract: A display device includes a display screen and a frame disposed around the display device, an infrared receiver and a light guide member, wherein the light guide member has a securing surface through which the light guide member is secured to the frame, the light guide member further including a receiving end and a light exiting surface, the receiving end formed at a display side of the display device, a width of the receiving end in a direction perpendicular to the frame to which the light guide member is secured is narrower than a width of the light exiting surface in the direction. Only a narrower portion of the light guide member can be seen when a human being looks at the display device, thus improving display effect of the narrow frame of the display device.

Each second electrode has a second substantially active electrode volume. The first active electrode volume is greater than the second active electrode volume. The second electrodes are translatable with respect to the first electrodes. The second electrodes extend at least partially in the longitudinal dimension. The first electrodes are configured to induce substantially linear motion of the second electrodes in the longitudinal dimension through the use of an electric field induced by at least a portion of the first electrodes.

    Abstract: The present invention provides systems and methods for analyzing the excitation spectra of fluorescent particles in a flowing stream. The system uses a white light laser and color separation optics to provide a spatially-distributed, continuous color-spectrum excitation light system that is used to illuminate a region of a flowing stream. A particle that passes through the detection region traverses the full dispersed spectrum of excitation light, and the fluorescence emissions from the particle are continuously measured as it passes through the detection region. The measured fluorescence emissions at each wavelength of excitation light, which changes through full spectrum of the excitation light as the particle passes through the detection region, provides the excitation spectrum of the particle.

    Abstract: A dielectric fluid includes a first liquid having first dielectric constant and conductivity values. The dielectric fluid also includes a second liquid having second dielectric constant and conductivity values. The first dielectric constant value is greater than the second dielectric constant value and the second electrical conductivity value is less than the first electrical conductivity value. The first and second liquids form an immiscible mixture that has third dielectric constant and conductivity values between the first and second dielectric constant values and the first and second electrical conductivity values, respectively. The first liquid forms a high conductivity phase representative of the first conductivity value, and the second liquid forms a low conductivity phase representative of the second conductivity value.

    Abstract: A graphene transistor optical detector based on a metamaterial structure and an application thereof. The optical detector includes a substrate, a gate metal layer, a gate medium layer, a graphene layer, a source and drain metal layer successively arranged from bottom to top, wherein a local region of at least the source and drain metal layer has a periodic micro/nanostructure, the periodic micro/nanostructure being matched with the gate metal layer and the gate medium layer to form a metamaterial structure having a complete absorption characteristic. By changing the refractive index, thickness or the like of material for the periodic micro/nanostructure and the gate medium layer, a light absorption frequency band of the metamaterial structure can be regulated. The optical detector provided by the present invention has higher flexibility and narrow-band response, and can work under visible light to infrared even longer wavebands by selecting different metamaterial structures.
