    Abstract: This disclosure provides a method and transceiver for a digital subscriber line (DSL) system. A first transceiver performs a communication with a second transceiver with a bit table including a first parameter of bit load for sub-carriers, and transmits a switch message for requesting a bit load reduction to the second transceiver when the first transceiver determines that an obtained communication performance parameter reaches or exceeds the predetermined value; and in response to the transmission of the switch message, executing a switch to a second parameter of bit load for sub-carriers at a certain symbol of a frame. The first transceiver calculates the second parameter of bit load by subtracting a corresponding bit number from the first parameter of bit load. The corresponding bit number is transmitted by the first transceiver to the second transceiver for calculating a same parameter of bit load as the second parameter of bit load.

The bit table and the gain table predetermined are respectively stored in the first transmitter receiver set and the second transmitter receiver set. According to the method, a rapid switch to the bit table and the gain table predetermined using simple message or enquiry answer mechanism may be ensured when great wideband noise exists. There is no need of interchanging the bit table and the gain table when using this method.

With the invention, crosstalk test can be implemented in real time on xSDL lines without impacting the transmission performance of other lines.     Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for TDR (time domain reflection) test of a transmission line. In the method, first, a test signal meeting the test requirement of self-correlation and mutual-correlation is determined and transmitted in the transmission line, in which the test signal may be a band-limited random signal, a frequency agility signal, or a regular frequency modulation signal. Then, a TDR test is performed according to the test signal transmitted in the transmission line. The SELT (Single-End Line Test) apparatus configured in accordance with the TDR test solution in the present invention has a good adaptability to environment, a high test accuracy, and an excellent capability of noise resistance. The method of the present invention is very useful for TDR test of large-scaled DSLAM (DSL Access Multiplexer) equipments.
