  • Publication number: 20070185902
Abstract: A data storage device includes storage media with multiple media zone attributes of storage performance. The storage device includes a data channel that is connectable to a host system. The data channel receives an object from the host system that has a requested storage attribute attached to the object. The storage device comprises an object-based storage interface that couples between the data channel and the storage media. The object-based storage interface schedules the object for storage in a selected zone of the multiple media zones based on the attributes and requested attributes.

  • Publication number: 20070042367
Abstract: This invention relates generally to the field of nucleic acid detection. In particular, the invention provides a lab-on-chip system for analyzing a nucleic acid, which system comprises, inter alia, controllably closed space, and a target nucleic acid can be prepared and/or amplified, and hybridized to a nucleic acid probe, and the hybridization signal can be acquired if desirable, in the controllably closed space without any material exchange between the controllably closed space and the outside environment. Methods for analyzing a nucleic acid using the lab-on-chip system is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20060294315
Abstract: A method comprises: storing data for a plurality of objects in a plurality of physical blocks on a storage medium, using information about the objects to identify logical addresses for the physical blocks used to store the data, pre-fetching the data from particular ones of the physical blocks based on the identified logical addresses, and storing the pre-fetched data in a memory. Apparatus that performs the method is also included.

  • Publication number: 20040114608
Abstract: A network system (10). The system comprises a network (WAN1, LAN1, LAN2) having an architectural model comprising a plurality of layers. The system also comprises a centralized manager node (CM1), coupled to the network. The system also comprises a plurality of routers (ERx) coupled to the network for communicating packets along the network and coupled to communicate with the centralized manager node. The centralized manager is programmed to perform the step (28) of communicating mapping information to each of the plurality of routers, and the mapping information comprises a correspondence of a behavior on a first of the plurality of layers with a behavior on a second of the plurality of layers.
